Tattersalls October yearling sales Part 1

The Part 1 sale gets underway at Tattersalls tomorrow in what looks to be another strong yearling sale this year.

A few quite interesting types go through the ring tomorrow. Just to go through a couple of them:

Lot 2 is a Dubai Destination half brother to high class Hawksley Hill and a close relation to top class sprinter Benbaun.

Lot 10 is a full sister to the top class Footstepsinthesand.

Lot 25 is a Kyllachy half sister to Dutch Art to prove himself to be a very high class 2yo and placed in the 2,000 Guineas this year.

Lot 41 is a Montjeu out of pretty useful American racemare Holy Nola, making her a half sister to high class Preachinatthebar.

Lot 43 is a Sadler's Wells half brother to Simply Perfect who is a Gr1 winning and placed filly. I expect this one to sell very well. The mare herself (Hotelgenie dot com) was also very good in her own right.

Lot 66 is the second foal out of the top class mare Janet who won plenty of races in America. This yearling is by a top stallion in Cape Cross.

Lot 116 is a Cape Cross half brother to top class horses Latice and Lawman (both Gr1 winners in France).

Lot 143 is yet another Cape Cross, this time a half brother to classic winning Sixties Icon.

Lot 145 is more of sentimental value for me and a number of forumers as this fella is a fullt brother to the talented but ill-fated Gypsy King.

Lot 147 is a Elusive Quality out of the beautifully bred mare named Lucky (own sister to King of Kings). This first foal from her should make quite a bit.

Lot 169 is yet another Cape Cross, this time a half sister to the top class Marienbard who was the chapion older horse back in 2002.

As i say, these are just a few of the ones that stood out to me during tomorrow's sale. The sale goes on all week, but i haven't had to chance to have a real look through the catalogue for the rest of the days.

mmsc, just thought i'd let you know that a couple of members from the HKJC are here, and they have bought two yearlings so far:

Danehill Dancer - Green Swallow
Bertolini - Hiwaayati

anyone who wants to find the details of the sale, selling prices and purchasers, just go to www.tattersalls.com

Walked past Sheikh Mo and the clan earlier, he didn't look too impressed with the rain!

The HKJC also bought a little colt who i used to look after as a foal. He was a good little kid.

you will have to watch out for him, mmsc.

Pivotal - Kirov.

They paid 160,000 for him! Can i adopt him him before he has even been named? :D

Thanks and yeah I've been watching their (HK) purchases which is something new for me since i really am not in to that end of things...

Maybe when Rakti's kids are ready to hit the sales. :)

You walked by him as in saw him in person??? Did you blow kisses for me and give him the traditional basket??? Did you tell him you have a friend who thinks he's the cat's meow? :D

Oh, I don't do the adoptions any more (maybe will later in the season, after the BC) but sure... I'll watch him for you once they've named him.

Well, you must watch out for the Pivotal yearling they bought. He is out of a lovely mare. I hope he does well.

Do the HKJC buy a lot? It seems strange to me to see a Jockey Club buying yearlings.

Yes, i walked right by Sheikh Mo and his clan with John Ferguson. It was pouring with rain, and he didn't look very happy.

No, it was pretty big news.....

Gyspy King's full went to Marcus Tregoning for 100,000

A Montjeu colt makes the last lot the top lot on day one of the sale. The full brother to Dash To The Top was bought by John Magnier for 500,000

Earlier today a Gone West half brother to Divine Proportions, Whipper and Mythical Kid etc made 1,000,000 and was sold to John Ferguson. Another one for Godolphin.

He was a superb looking colt and a great mover in the ring.

On a side note, 250,000 was just paid for a half sister to The Geezer.

There should be some pictures on the Tattersalls website later today or tomorrow. There should be some of the million lot at some point.

There will be some in the bloodstock press, maybe blood-horse will have some?

NoChanceToDance 10-10-2007 02:02 PM

Picture of the million guinea colt from todays sale:

There is also a video of him being sold on the Tattersalls website. On their home page just click on the "sales and results" tab and go down to "october 1" then if you just scroll down that page, the first video is of him.

Tomorrow we have an Indian Haven half brother to Speciosa.

A Montjeu half brother One So Wonderful, Sunboat etc.

A Dalakhani first foal out of champion race mare Slap Shot.

Also a Sadler's Wells half sister to DR Fong and Lucky Story. This one should get coolmore bidding, i would imagine.

NoChanceToDance 10-10-2007 03:05 PM

Oooooh, mmsc. Get on a plane NOW........ Clubsy's little half sister (by Fasliyev) goes through the ring tomorrow.

Being by Fasliyev, this half sister to Red Clubs should be very speedy.

NoChanceToDance 10-11-2007 12:46 PM

Highest priced so far today was a Galileo half brother to Listed winner Silver Pivotal. He was knocked down to John Magnier for 750,000 after a long bidding war with John Warren acting on behalf of Sir Robert Ogden (i think) who was sitting inbetween John and Jeremy Noseda.

Next highest price has just been sold for 600,000 also to John Magnier. A full brother to Stagelight, a 2,000 guineas winner in the UAE a couple of years ago.

NoChanceToDance 10-12-2007 01:52 PM

A world record was set at Tattersalls earlier today for a yealing filly when the full sister to Listen (Fillies mile winner) went for 2.5million. The surprise for many will be that neither John (Magnier or Ferguson) were involved in the bidding.

The war was between Charlie Gordon-Watson acting on behalf of an owner with Luca Cumani, and Simon Christian who was acting on behalf od Pat Fahey (owner of Ask). Gordon-Watson went to 2.5million and Christian called for time.

Gordon-watson was a busy man today, his purchases included two others that both went for a million.

A few on here will be interested that a 3/4 relative to Cassydora went to Shadwell for 260,000.

NoChanceToDance 10-12-2007 04:05 PM

By the way, during my four days at Tatts this week, i found the real reason why John Magnier is SO rich.

He only has bought one set of clothes!

Seriously, for a man as rich as he is, he wore the same clothes everyday of the sale. I really hope he changed his underwear :D
