Smart Strike

Is it too late to buy stock in this stallion? A Grade 1 win at 6f followed by a Grade 1 win at 12f on turf 30 minutes later.

And Curlin still to come.

isn't he like 19? why not just bail curlins owners out of jail....I'm sure they will cut you in as a thank you.

sumitas 09-30-2007 05:19 PM

I don't believe they are in jail for keeping their promises.

I don't think a stallion has ever had a better day than today. Seriously. When Awesome Again had 2 wins & a 2nd on the BC card in '04 I thought that was pretty good... a question for trivia buffs, has a sire ever had a 6F G1 winner, a 12F turf G1 winner, and a 10F G1 winner in a 4 race span? Don't think so.

Smart Strike and I go way back. Nice siring homie.

Bravo! Smart Strike

Yes, I don't recall ever seeing one sire dominate one non-statebred card, much less three Grade 1 races, in one single afternoon! Bravo, Smart Strike, bravo...

Here is link to Thoroughbred Times Interactive Stallion Directory -- a very interesting read. http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/sta...ion_no=1365869

Smart Strike defeated Langfuhr at age 2. Lawyer Ron and Interpatation are both Langfuhr foals that tasted defeat today. Second generation carries on as sire did.

And from you heard it here first department -- where did Smart Strike's only two graded wins occur? Monmouth Park... you can't make this stuff up. Horses for courses sometime pass that to their progeny.

Impressive wins by his progeny today. Aside from just running faster and winning English Channel and Curlin showed a lot of guts today. Fabulous Strike showed that he is a damn good horse.

I would be happier if the sire that had that kind of success was NOT a stallion that only started eight times in his career, and is also by Mr. P.
I think the breeding industry has plenty of those types.

I agree, but there is some stoutness on the female side.

English Channel - Curlin $2 Daily Double pays $55.60. Looks like Smart Strike's offspring really do like Monmouth Park, too.

I thought he was 15. Not sure, I could be wrong.

Regardless, the breeding industry will not "react" because his offspring performed and racked up graded stakes money, wins, etc. The industry will react at what horses won, where these horses won, and so on -- turf, dirt, poly, sprint, route, etc.

Let's see what kind of mares he gets.

he's 15.

........while waiting over 30 minutes to get paid for the Classic winnings, we see Smart Strike going off at Oak Tree (SA) at 8-1. Heck why not bet it. Darn horse finishes third with traffic problems though. Still might have not beaten the 7-5 favorite though.

Hey just trying to keep the fees low....
