RTR Runs 2nd

Dang.. Wasn't able to see the race... Just read that she ran 2nd.. Anyone see how it went?

She ran OK. Lear's Princess ran inside her most of the way and swung wide to win. Rags and little to offer LP. I'd hardly call Rags efforet bad but it certainly was not what one expects from her.

Rags took a lot of early money, was 1-9 before the late money brought the no. 1 back to about the morning line. The race actually started w/ a slow fraction of 24 then they really started to step on it in the 2nd and 3rd. Dont really think they were pushing Rags all that hard, I had the exacta but would not want to be against her the next time out. Final time was pretty good, e.g. 1.47? Definitely a good return to the track dont not downgrade Rags for this.

Lear's Princess is underestimated. I think she can win the Distaff.

Her performances in the CCAO and the Alabama weren't terrible, but they were not exactly spectacular either. She has so few lifetime starts that she is certainly eligible to keep improving. She obviously took a big step forward today in a very professional score. The "story" of the race will be that Rags was short, but it was a nice effort by Lear's Princess. She seems like a pretty solid filly, and this year that might be enough to win the BC.

Talk about a horse who lost interest. The screws are not tight, nor should they be. Nice work out

geeker2 09-15-2007 05:56 PM

did Todd ever say why she had not run until now?

letswastemoney 09-15-2007 06:11 PM

Rags had womanly problems ::p

she's had a couple set backs, fevers, a bad work and a nervous exercise rider led to a fine-tooth comb exam. she'll be fine.

B-Cup..still the fav?

letswastemoney 09-15-2007 06:30 PM

Rags will always be the favorite because people have an emotional connection to her now. The only way she won't be the favorite is if she runs against males.

i think so. she had every reason to be a little short today. of course most would have expected her to beat any female running, but with her on again off again schedule...well, she certainly isn't invincible. she didn't lose by much. i'm just glad to see that the winners of the spring classics are still running in the fall. certainly a welcome change.

jpops757 09-15-2007 09:03 PM

She can forget HOY. Only way she can win is to beat the guys in BC Classic.

pointman 09-15-2007 10:36 PM

Rags ran a credible race. If she was ever going to get beat, today was the day and Lear's Princess was the only one in this field to do it. IMO that is pretty much what happened.

Hard to train any horse for this type of race with all the setbacks she's endured lately...Not surpring but she should be primed for the BC - given any further issues....

miles2135 09-16-2007 12:16 AM

Rags carried 7 more pounds and had not raced in three months. In the distaff all the weights are equal or Rags gets a break for being 3, I am not really sure. Not to take anything away from Lear's Princess but she is in top shape right now. The bottom line is on BC day it will be a different story.

Travis Stone 09-16-2007 01:20 AM

Even if she goes winless for the rest of her career, winning the Belmont stakes was pretty cool.

Might be true, but with these setbacks she has already encountered, I hope she makes it error-free to the BC...
