Its not propaganda when it is truth:D :D

I haven't posted anything because the race was up in the air until earlier today. I think that everyone knows of my devotion to EC. Kind of interesting with Shake in the race. EC has never really been in a race like this where there is a rabbit. It's a shame that some horses need that in order to run there best race. EC has proven his talent. I look for him to be there at the wire come Sat.

GPK and others,
Just a question so inform, don't pounce, ok?
Did you ever notice that the "rabbit" doesn't just set things up for the one that he's in for, but also for all of the others in the race?
Thanks for your views.

Did both EC and Cacique run abnormally close to the front for them last out int the Manhattan? I vaguely remember, I was at a housewarming party partaking in too many adult beverages. They definitely don't want to do that here.

GPK 07-06-2006 04:33 PM

You know what gets me....how the hell does this Shake the Bank keep getting in these races??? His best finish in 1.5 years was a 2nd at Tampa in a OC/n3x-N for Christ's sake. There has to be more deserving horses for this race than this fraud of a horse. It's a shame racing even allows it.

JV wont have EC anywhere close to Shake. EC runs his best race from just off the leader(s)....1-2 lengths back maybe.

I was just looking actually DTS....looks to help Silverfoot as well.

Kev as far as rabbits, it's been part of the game forever, Damascus and Buckpasser both had one in the 67 Woodward against Dr. F ager. I actually feel bad for the horse more than anything.

I agree that it's not an honest race scenario, just that the "rabbit" can be there for all of the entries.
Remember Spanish Chestnut?

Im sure it has Bill, but just seems chickensh*t to me. If your horse is good enough to win, he don't need it.

Gauchos0522 07-06-2006 04:40 PM

GPK,
I completely agree the scenario of the race is turned upside down with the rabbit however saying racing shouldn't allow it is not right. Over in europe rabbits are constantly used as part of the game and last year we saw the use of 2 rabbits in 1 race for the sole purpose of eliminating 1 horse (last years Woodward). Saying Better Talk Now hasn't proved his ability without a rabbit is untrue also christ he won the BC Turf without one against the likes of Kitten's Joy and Powerscourt. Maybe its just cause I really like the old man I don't know just my take on things.

Yeah I hear you...

I was just browsing over the PP....two times that stick out to me is the Manhattan and the Secretariat...both times he was close to the front, both times the turf was yielding....should be firm Saturday. I could also be totally off base.

the yielding turf means nothing. He raced on a yielding turf at Colonial in the VA Derby last year and I watched him move like an absolute machine over that surface.

I have always thought and said he was too close to the pace (actually leading) way too early. Arlington turf traditionaly plays to mid pack to closers.
Look at his PP's and you can see his best races come from racing in 2nd or 3rd for most of the race.

Bigsmc 07-06-2006 05:14 PM

All this rabbit talk brings to mind a MMSC thread. "Who's your favorite rabbit of all time?"

I'll go with Loach.

Bigs

hoovesupsideyourhead 07-06-2006 06:33 PM

caciqe shows the off the pace move here and wins again...

Thunder Gulch 07-06-2006 07:51 PM

English Channel gets Caquie here and these two continue a terriffic rivalry.
