Street Sense nearly had heat stroke?

I don't get HRTV but someone who does told me Nafzger said in an interview that Street Sense needed water straight away because he nearly had heat stroke over by the winner's circle. I know it was kinda warm out there right? How'd he look? Certainly explains how Calvin could read that he had the measure of Grasshopper but then you have the horse switching to his left lead and appearing to have heat stroke later. He must've had the gas in the tank but felt like crap due to the heat so he was fighting through that.

I also almost had like 5 heat strokes working the bbq stand. In between a grill and a steamer, oh my i was dying!

Yesterday was unbearable. It would be like running a 12 race card on July 29th at Gulfstream.

a snippet from John DaSilva's article in today's NY Post:

"Nafzger kept Street Sense on his normal post-race regimen, sending the 2006 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Eclipse Award winner out to the track for a one-mile jog.

"He jogged his mile and did it good and played a little bit," Nafzger said yesterday. "He's an exceptional horse. He's met every challenge, and good horses do that.

"This morning, he wasn't dehydrated or anything and he had good texture to his skin and his coat was soft. He cleaned up last night and he was good."

Some would have thought that after a heated stretch duel with Grasshopper, Street Sense would be worse for the wear, but that was not the case. Street Sense is a special horse and Nafzger knows where he stands in his life.

"Unbridled was great; Banshee (Breeze), Vicar, Unshaded were good, unbelievable horses, but I've never had anything like this horse," he said. "

Weird weather at Saratoga last week. 40-50's in the morning mid-week and then nearly 100 at the time of the Travers. Throw in a stretch dual like that and you have to think it was going to take a toll on the horses.
