His stablemate Minefield is the nails in that race, and Run Alex Run is the most interesting longshot....he is a very quick son of Officer and could be a hand-full to catch if can shake away from Chase City - the other big fave - on the turn....nice little race of babies....

zippyneedsawin 07-06-2006 11:22 AM

Oh yeah, should be a good race. I like CQ because I was very impressed with his maiden win. I didn't see any of the others run, but I'm sure they're very good as well.

Entries have been drawn:

8 horses in the field with the biggest surprise being that MINEFIELD was not entered, which surprises me because all of the Woilfs first stringers have raced at CD because that is where they live...the rest of Pletchers main clients will defer to what he wants and what he wants is to race in NY not KY...

Asmussen's Chace City drew the rail and will have to go from there, and Run Alex Run should be able to get a perfect 2-wide trip pressing Chase City and I think Run Alex Run, who comes in off a 58.80 workout - will take over in the stretch and prove to be tough to catch...Obviously, Pletcher will be favored with Circle Quay, who will run from the second flight and may be 3-4 wide down the backstretch from his outside draw.....I think Lukas' maiden - the Fu Peg firster - is very intriguing with Leparoux....Clockers have raved over this colt and he could prove to provide significant pace preasure too and he probably has quite a bit of quality...I think experience may hurt his chances to win but he will make his presense felt....

Picks:

1) Run Alex Run - 4/1 - Takes over stretch and holds off Circle Quay..
2) Circle Quay - Even - Getting to winner but compromised from racing wide..
3) Lukas' maiden - 8/1 - Shows great ability in debut..
4) Chase City - 2-1 - Speed, rail, tire stretch..

I'm excited to get to see this Quay in person
I hope he's the goods
otherwise I will demand my dollar back
as I am a card-carrying member of
The Twin Spires Club

Disappointed about Minefield as well.

Keep this in mind...Circloe Quay is a Thunder Gulch out of a graded stakes winning Belong to Me mare who ran in the Kentucky Oaks....it is very easy to beleive that his future will be racing around two turns....The Bashford Manor is a 6F event, and because Circle Quay figures to get a wide trip, it is very easy to see him losing this race at aroudn EVEN money....

I really believe that Run Alex Run will prove to be on eof the top sprinters of this 2yo crop...I don't think he will race very far and will be a lifetime one-turn horse, but he is fast and can easily beat Circle Quay in here at a much better price.....Chace City is a Carson City and he certainly will only be a pure sprinter in his racing career, as will Lukas' fast maiden due probably will due to the fact that he is out of a Meadowlake mare....

Don't be discouraged if Circle Quay isn't as quick as these around one turn on Saturday...this isn't a bad group of fast 2yos and I can easily see Circle Quay racing wide and getting beat by a few of these.....that doesn't mean he sucks, he'll probably excel as the distances stretch out....

so, what are you trying to say Mr. C?(get it, "Happy Days")
why don't you meet me up at Waverly Hills
and we can discuss Circular Quay
Man-o-e-man-o
j/k..makes sense what you speak
thanks for the input, as I's love me some 2 y/o racin'

Miss Storm, I can probably get you a TS card
alas, you're too far way for me to teach you
the secret handshake ;-)
(which is needed to get in)

CQ seemed to handle a sprint distance at first asking. If there's a speed duel upfront without a pronounced speed favoring bias, I'd give Circular Quay a real good chance at mowing them all down... But, too short of a price would be tough to take on any horse in a race like this.

Q is a horse I'll be watching every time out.

It's the thought that counts, so thank you for thinking of me. Perhaps you won't mind if i improvise my own rendition of the secret handshake?

I shall work on it immediately.
