This has been going on for a while now. I had a 3YO in 2003 that had stem cell surgery to repair a lesion on his suspensory. After 18 months he came back to the races, but was never the same.

Lord of the Game was this, he had a bowed tendon before he even made it to the races and his first race out, after the stem cell injury, for Maiden Clm 10k and was claimed by Tomillo, and the rest is history. He currently rebowed that tendon and from what I have heard still on the comeback trail
