Odds

While watching TVGtheyremarked about how wrong all the pro handicapers and bettors can be sometimes on 2yr old 1sters. Does anyone know or have the resources to know which KD winner, went of at the longest odds in there debut race?

Don't know if he was the longest odds in his debut of any Ky Derby winner but Bold Forbes went off at 35-1 in his debut in Puerto Rico. He won by 17 lengths.

Isn't there some quote about how people in that live in glass houses?

...eagerly awaiting "Blinker's Off" to get my tips for the weekend races, especially the "Best Bet of the Day"...

My guess is Decidely at 45-1.

not the longest, but Pleasant Colony went off at 27-1 in debut.

Bold Forbes, as STS says, was giant odds and won big:

A firster out of Barrera's barn wins a 5f race by 17 lengths at 35-1...how in the world could they hide that guy enough to pull that off??

Was trained by someone else (Cruz) in PR.

Wins at 5,6,8,9,10 and 12 furlongs. I'd say that is impressive.

I believe I remember reading that his two 2yo races in this country recieved tremendously fast Ragozin figures.

I believe they had one of them faster than anything Big Red ran in his 2-year-old Horse of the Year season in '72.

Eight races as a 2YO?
Five races as a 3yo before the Derby?
It almost seems like Barrera wasn't concerned about having a "fresh" horse.
What a fool.

lol, didn't they say the same thing about Lawyer Ron? Some 14 starts or so before the Derby, that he would be ruined with so many races?

If Canonero II had run in the US for his debut it'd been through the roof...I can't find his PP data for Venezuela.

For some reason I always liked his story....maybe it's an ugly duckling thing and Cajun always talking crooked this...crooked that.
