For Fans of Stormont (IRE)

I know there are a few members on here that were very close to Stormont when he raced in England (Germany and Dubai) but I've heard that he's about to resume his racing career-let's hope he can improve on his 3 US performances of 2005.

No Chance - I thought they retired your boy?

Happy returns Stormont!

NoChanceToDance 08-06-2007 04:19 AM

Really?????????

I thought they had reitred him, too

No one seems to know anything over here, we never get to see his owners anymore, i don't even know if they own him now.

Thank you so much for posting this

saratogabrit 08-07-2007 08:33 AM

Ken and Les still own him. I had a message today from So. Cal. saying that he's progressing well. I'll have more info later today. It's time to put him back in your Virtual Stables.

Glad he's coming back. :)

NoChanceToDance 08-07-2007 11:03 AM

Glad to hear is coming back, but i'm not expecting too much from him, if anything at all.

He had severe bleeding problems before he left for the States (which was the reason for the move), we were hoping the lasix would sort him out, but it didn't look to have an effect on his few runs over there.

He was getting to the stage where he took everything in his stride and was getting far too relaxed when he went racing, and for a sprinter, that isn't a great sign.

Given this long layoff, i imagine he could have only got lazier.

I hope the big fella will do me proud, but i won't be expecting much.

I'm still cursing the day he got beaten first time out when a certain Mr Fallon was caught napping on the lead.

Will he still be in training with the same woman in CA?

(sorry, i can't remember her name. Kirsten or something like that)

That's great news.

I hope he makes it back to the track, i think these synthetic surfaces will really help him in California.

Maybe i will have to put a different avatar of him up now :)

Thank you for the news.

He worked again a couple of days ago. Now he's 1 work away from a 1st start for 2 years

Will you be going out to see him?

I'm not expecting much after a two year absence. Will they be running him on turf?

Would love to pop over there and see the big fella again. Maybe next year i will.

No I doubt i'll be going until March at the earliest. He's worked about 7 times in total now-the last being over 6 Furlongs yesterday and an entry is about to be made.

I think it's 2 years ago this week or so that he last ran

NoChanceToDance 01-12-2008 01:18 PM

He's working really well but he's been on the Stewards List since the last run because the Owners hadn't renewed their licence/s

I think they renewed at the end of last week but we've missed 1 race because of this slight hiccup

Thanks for the update. I had wondered why there had been so many workouts and no sign of a run.

He looks to be coming back to himself, especially for a horse that never really showed a great deal when he worked back at home. As a two year old he worked well (and thw whole town knew it) but he became a very lazy beast. I remember travelling down to Goodwood when he ran in the Stewards Cup and taking him from the yard to the track, he was almost asleep in the box!

Are you planning on going to see him soon?
