Smarty Jones offspring $150k

John Kimmel bought the first Smarty Jones offspring today at the Fasig Tipton Kentucky July Yearlings sale. The horse failed to be sold as a weanling last Nov. at the Keeneland sales.

Good luck to Kimmel with this purchase.

It was actually purchased by Kimmel as agent for my friend's pinhooking operation, I saw the filly at the KEE November sale as a weanling and she was really small but nice conformation. I can't wait to see her at the barn in a couple weeks.

He's the man. Really cool guy and brings his family out often to see his entries run. Will try to have him meet up with everyone next weekend at Sar...

How did the Candy Ride look?

Racey. How the good Candy Rides are going to look. The bad ones will look like they belong in the Sonoma County Fair running 350yrds.

Do you get the TDN? Little article on Kimmel's plans and a great idea.

HIP 107 was a great looking filly. Very, very good confirmation and walked great, very fluid and balanced.

Not sure what everyone saw with the Smarty Jones, you knew it would bring some money just based on the stud fee but I tell you the horse was stuck on 40K for a while before it kinda took off.

Medagala d"Or's were selling well as were the Lion Hearts. Overall the first crop day was good but the bottoms on most of those horses were not a strong as you will see in September.

The picture in the Smarty Jones ad that runs in the bldhorse is awesome. What a beautiful animal. Never really realized what a nice pedigree he has. He would be my candidate to be the next horse to have an influence on the breed like a Seattle Slew did.

I bid on #107 but was dead at $175. I thought the SJ filly was still a little too small for me.

i don't know about that.
he'll have his shot though. he sure has seen a lot of well-bred, stakes winning mares.
