Arlington Million Day

what's with Pletcher not running English Channel (will run in sword dancer at 'toga). He's going to put Honey Ryder in against all the Euro turf males... what a waste.

Irridescence is supposed to be coming for the Beverly D. If so, she's definitely the one to beat and will be my pick for it.

I just heard this evening that she might end up going to the Nassau Stakes instead.

Hope she comes here though!

It sounds as if Pletcher is uninterested in shortening EC up too much prior to the BC. He can go Sword Dancer-Joe Hirsch TC-BC Turf and run at 1 1/2 miles each time. EC hasn't exactly fared well at Arlington in two appearances, finishing 2nd in the '05 Secretariat and 4th in the '06 Million.

Now as far as Honey Ryder, I have no idea why he'd run her against males when he could run in the Beverly D. The extra $300,000 must be the motivator.

Weight break and 300k. Not only that but she will have a hell of a chance to win it also. She is real good right now, 1.5 lengths behind English Channel ain't bad

Didn't she get third last year?

I only played an exacta on that race. saved my $$ for the million and the pick 4.

she did come on late, but didn't really like the course.

She didn't even like the course? She ran third behing Gorella and Film Maker. She'll be a factor if she runs in the Million. Pletcher will most likely start Wait a While in the Beverly D.

The extra purse money only matters if one is good enough to get a piece of it and Honey Ryder would be up against it in the Million.

Where can U wager on ARL? It is not on Brisbet and I didn't see it over on my Youbet either.
Either way I am not getting another wagering account, two is crazy enough.
And all these stupid tracks wonder why handle is down??????

Danzig 07-12-2007 09:28 AM

if honey ryder is doing well, why not run vs the boys? had a good showing the other day, with only english channel ahead of her--and he loves monmouth. i don't think the million would be out of her league.

Brisbet won't let you bet Arlington on the internet but you can still bet it with them over the phone.

Personally I'd like to see Honey Ryder take on Citronnade in the Beverly D. It's not like Honey Ryder has been so dominant against females that her only option is to race against males.

Irridescence would beat both of them handily. Provided that her Newmarket race goes ok, she'll be the favorite for the Beverly D at probably 2-1 or lower. I'd take 2-1 all day on her against either Citronnade or HR.

Not to mention the extra 1/16th helps her. She likes to go looooong.

I'm also not sure where Biancone stands with Lady of Venice. I think it's safe to say she can handle a bit more ground and Citronnade's presence in a race means there will be some pace, there's just no telling how fast it is.

I'm also not giving up on Vacare. I know her race at Hollywood was poor, but she is clearly a talented filly and might step up in a big way 2nd off the layoff. She seems more like Diana material than Beverly D though.

Vacare's a real good horse. Likes more give in the ground than what she saw in CA. That's why she liked AP/KEE better.

Hmmm ya think his stock will start to slow down with all this "cobra venom" talk? But boy that would be a nice one if you threw L.O.V in there.
