Executive Privilege

Today, the president invoked executive privilege to prevent White House
aides, Miers and Taylor from testifying in Congress.
Here is a surprisingly unbiased article (for alternet) that might provide background:

Story to follow.

This should drag on for a while. I wonder where all the money to pay for the lawyers will be coming from...hmmm...us taxpayers?

Here's a more neutral take than "The Nation".

Thanks for the advice.
Now, what do you think of Bush claiming executive privilege?

somerfrost 07-09-2007 01:43 PM

Clinton used this as did many past Presidents...not unexpected in this case. The thing that annoys me is that this is simply politics by both sides...I'll say the same thing here as I did during Clinton's "Monicagate" fiasco, what we the people should demand is that our elected leaders, from Bush on down, spend more time addressing the real issues of the day and less time chasing each other's tails in attempts to gain a political advantage. The time to stand up to the policies and actions of GWB has long past...deal with the present, Iraq, poverty, disease, genocide, immigration...the past will always be the past.

You might be surprised by this. Discussing current events is very relaxing to me. And, I enjoy life more than I can tell you.

And, Somerfrost brought up some good points. Executive privilege goes all the way back to Washington (if you read the first link).

You'll get your thrill for the day, play the "aww shucks" routine and then throw in a thinly veiled insult at someone. Ever see the movie Groundhog Day? It's playing here every day in this room.

I haven't seen that movie, but based on your critical review, I'll be sure to watch it soon.
Have a wonderful day! And thanks for the free psych consult.

you are right, and I am convinced it isn't going to happen.
Its all politics now, one continuous money raising election cycle after another.

What's it all matter?

The first boomers go are eligible for Soc Security in 5 months.

They're eligible for Medicare in 3 years.

Health Care is out of sight.

The earth is gonna blow any day now.

Start drinking.
