Fairness Doctrine

For those what it was:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine

I'm looking for mainly viewpoints of democrats( i lean conservative on this one) but anyone is welcome to respond.

Is anyone in favor of this. While, I don't regularly listen to talk radio, I have a problem with the government telling stations what they can and can't broadcast because of which side of the political spectrum they fall on. My view is contingent on the ability to turn off a program that does not meet his educational or entertainment needs. Although, the supreme court voted that it did not infringe on first amendment rights, i have to disagree. As long as the program is not enciting riots or causing harm to an individual, I don't see the harm in it.
