SWLY Under Weather; No MTH...

Keeping this thread active rather than starting a new one...

Chuck has updated the ChuckBlog, and as speculated, Sumwon appears to be under the weather after a mediocre 1:03.0 work yesterday and acting lethargic today...

Here are Chuck's comments from the Blog:

As Steve said yesterday I wasn't thrilled with yesterdays work. Even though I was not looking for a big work time wise, the filly never really picked up the bit much and did not show the same spark that she had. She cooled out fine and ate up her lunch. But she left a little feed this morning and I believe that she may be a little under the weather. Her temperature has been okay but she was a little more lethargic than usual in her stall and walked around like a zombie which is not her. It has been very hot here and the heat may be bothering her a bit or she may be fighting off some kind of sickness. We will take blood work on her in the morning and see if that sheds any light on the situation. Sorry it took so long to post but I wanted to assess the situation as much as I could before speculating about possible issues. I will keep everyone updated as the info becomes available.

No Monmouth... An ALW at Churchill July 1 (I believe) becomes a target... More as it happens...

If she runs, do we know what race that will be on the card? Trying to see if I can fly in but need to get back that evening and checking flights.

Can anyone help em here?

Thanks,

Spyder

The online condition book says it's the 7th race

Workout feedback...

Just off the phone with Chuck who will add his thoughts later, but he was not especially thrilled with how Sumwon went this morning...

It wasn't a question of the 1:03.0 (he was looking for 1:01.0+) as much as her not finishing with her usual interest and flourish... There was an incident on the track this morning that delayed her move and kept her standing around for 20 minutes which could be a contributing factor... Came out of the work fine... Chuck will likely take a day or two to see if she's coming down with something before addressing the race scenario.

More later...

I hope she's ok, and if you do go to MTH, Castro rides. . .

Humble Janet (the 3rd place horse in Sumwon's previous race AX1) just won @ 3-2 for Asmuessen. Churchill Downs 2nd race 50K ANX1...... could come out to be a key race....

Considering her last two- huge figure top and then pair, she projects to regress now. The Monmouth race is likely an ambitious spot anyway on her best day..

look who's taking an interest, i believe it's the trainers job to spot her races, not yours. Lord knows where you would have her racing, MNR for 5K claimers just so you can see her race more than twice a week:(

Was looking forward to good news. This doesn't sound good at all :(
To me it sounded like she may have excuses for the work - hope she isn't getting sick. The heat and humidity may start being a factor. Ofcourse all the women I know lay on rocks at high noon to try and get warm. If it's the heat, I don't know if you can get far enough north this time a year to help with that.

I'm disappointed but that's horseracing. I know the horse has to come first.

Thanks for the update even if it is.......
what it is

take care

John

not to fret yet. Maybe she was mourning the horse that had a heart attack forcing her to wait. Alw 50K at CD is almost the same as 65K at Mth purse wise. IMO Of course I'll try and find a race for her at Arl.

Any update Chuck?

I'm sure you're at the track now but please give us an update when you can.

Thanks,
Spyder

Muttley, do something.

pointman 06-17-2007 05:40 PM

That stinks, I was really looking forward to seeing her live for the first time. However, I understand that the horse's health comes first. I hope that this is nothing major and she can get back on track soon.

pmacdaddy 06-17-2007 06:43 PM

Echo pointman's sentiments.... Hopefully just a bump in the road and she picks up where she left off.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Hickory Hill Hoff 06-17-2007 08:26 PM

She's got a whole month to feel better just in time for the Spaaaa!
All kidding aside, hope the bloodwork tomorrow doesn't show anything serious.

horseofcourse 06-18-2007 12:21 AM

That's a shame. Part of the perils of horse ownership I guess!! Hope it's not serious and she'll be back rolling soon!
