From Nebraska and....

I have been listening to the radio show since this past December when I got my Sirius radio for Christmas and I have also been following this forum since then as well. I just wanted to say that I have learned a tremendous amount from you guys as far as handicapping goes and I have cashed a few wagers using some of your picks as well. I currently live in Nebraska and follow the midwest circuit very close, but they are mostly smaller tracks like Canterbury Park, Prarie Meadows, the Nebraska tracks, etc. I was just curious if there were any other members from this area, and if there were I'd love to discuss upcoming races with you in the future. I've rambled enough! Hope I can add some insight/selections to the board.

If your cashing tickets, its certainly not my picks...lol...As you know, this site is the best around. Glad to see that you have stepped out of the lurking den, you should post more often. Unfortunately, I have no clue as to the tracks you mentioned. That's every track now that I think about it...Good Luck in all your future wagers. HOpefully you can attract some people to this great sport as well..

A few of us around here make up a "Canterbury" contingent a little bit. Me, Kimmieastar, Lemoncrush, Minnskinny. I'm always down to chat if you want.

Hey, I'm a Nebraska-ite too. Where are you?

cadantler 06-12-2007 09:57 AM

pmayjr-I will take you up on that. I'm planning on betting it this Thursday. I'll pass along my thoughts and ideas on the card sometime tomorrow. Would love your insight if you get a chance to look at it.

chupster-I live in Omaha.

Love the avatar! Give me a shout anytime.

Ness is at Canterbury and having a very fine meet up there. Mac Robertson is also having a very fine meet as well. I look for a few of the lesser known trainers such as Doug Oliver and M. A. Johnson to start heating up here as we get into the latter part of June. Jockey David Bell has been starting to get some pretty live ponies as well.

I am going to go to Horsemens Park tomorrow night here in Omaha and grab a form for Canterbury on Thursday, so I will look forward to Kimmeastar, MISTERGEE, and whoever elses opinions on Thursday nights card.

good to see the DerbyTrail North/Central division taking shape.

pmayjr 06-12-2007 08:32 PM

Yeah Jamie Ness spretty much splits his time between Tampa and Canterbury (unless he goes somewhere in the autumn after the CBY ends and Tampa starts?). It pretty much is all him and the Robertsons.

So far, where you seem to be able to make the $$$ at CBY is betting the turf. I've actually been kinda disappointed with field sizes for the past few seasons. Even low-level claiming events aren't getting very big fields, BUT THE TURF RACES GET BIG FIELDS AND LONGSHOTS TO BOOT.

I haven't looked at the fields yet for Thur. I'm probably going out there though. Thursday night is a really good night to attend live racing there. Everything is $1... admission, hotdogs, pops, not sure about beer, but everything else is.

He went to Hoosier last fall after Canterbury and then on to Tampa.

I'm planning on going out to Cby tomorrow nite for Buck night. (I'm hoping for $1 beers too, even if it is Miller!:) ) I'm going to commit the cardinal sin and handicap on the fly as I'm going to be too busy tonite. If anyone has any hot tips...?

pmayjr 06-13-2007 04:08 PM

Hoof,
I always handicap on the fly. It just has worked better for me and it's what I'm comfortable with (but also I don't usually play pick 3s, 4s, and 6s... just WP, exacta, tris, supers). Will you be outside or up in the 3rd floor simulcast/restaurant area?

cadantler 06-13-2007 10:01 PM

My best bet of the day Thursday evening at Canterbury will be in the 6th race #8 SHOW TOPPER. 7/2 Morning Line. Doubt we get that price, but anything over 2/1 would be nice. Looks like Doug Oliver has this filly spotted for a win. I am now going back through this card again for a second time this evening and I will/may have a few more plays for anyone going out tomorrow.

Any insight from the Canterbury followers would be great. I have my eye on a couple of others that may pop at a price.

Hoof Hearted 06-14-2007 09:51 AM

Outside. I like to see the paddock, stop inside to see the warm up and then outside for the race.
