Cavs: Adjustments

Defense:

1. Do not let the Big I follow Duncan out 20 feet from the basket to show on screens for Parker. He is not quick enough. Hair man might be able to accomplish this, but not the 7' 2" glacial one.

2. Make Parker shoot jumpers (this would follow #1). Make him beat you on jumpers. If he drives, he must be fouled before he shoots.

3. No triple teams on Duncan. Run only one man off the ball and vary the timing.

4. Block the hell out. Dont let the Spurs tough the ball after it goes up. The Spurs must have got 20 chances on 2nd tips back out after misses. They play very good defense but San Antonio knows Cleveland will not run, so they are sending quick people to the boards on offense.

Offense:

1. Try to run even if you have to pull it up. At least outlet the ball and run it up when appropriate. There has to be same threat of easy baskets otherwise the Spurs will again get too many offensive rebounds.

2. Do not bring a pick out for James when he has the ball. This automatically brings a double team and takes the ball out of his hands and wont allow him to turn the corner. Either that our find a way to split the double which I dont see happening. James must be able to use his strength. And that is going full steam to the basket, making layups/dunks and getting fouls. He needs to be able to turn the corner and use his strength while going towards the basket. Then the shorter jumper will open up.

3. Off the ball screens for James off a cut, or leave him alone out front. No screens when he has the ball. (partial solution to #3)

4. Dont go nuts and start Gibson. This will most likely lead to early turnovers. The guy is comfortable coming off the bench and scoring. And he cant stop Parker anyway. He needs to watch the game before he comes in. The Cavs can stay close, if they keep the turnovers down. If the Cavs turn the ball over, it is death.

The Spurs did not shoot well the first game. Cleveland has got to know some slight positive adjustments can let them win a game down the stretch. They know they can win close games in the last few minutes with a player like Lebron.

And I thank you...

Don't give the opponents ideas to beat your own team

Make the little funny ball go in the net.

Refuse to allow the other team to do so.

Let's not make this any harder than it is....posters.

Cavs haven't made any adjustments...Spurs look like men playing boys! No answer for any of Spurs big three and James still can't shoot a jump shot!

58-33 at half, Spurs big three have not only outscored the entire Cav team, they are trouncing them 43-33!

ALERT! JAMES MIA...Possible Alien Abduction

Sorry Folks....taking the SuperStar Status away from the King! Inconsistent shooter and just playing like crap in "PrimeTime"

He's got a lot of growing to do to fill the shoes of the greats...just plain doesn't shoot the jump shot well enough. He's young and may still be all that but not now! I think the playoffs have exposed his overall abilities, his shots aren't even close!

To heck with the adjustments.
Lets get this one back to Ohio.

Sorta like that CSN&Y song..."Five Dead in Ohio"

Cavs finally showed some life late, cut it to 8 before losing by 11 (or was it 12), anyway...Gibson needs more minutes and they need to get him more involved in the "O"...kid can play!

timmgirvan 06-10-2007 10:54 PM

Cavs run just gives "Pops" more ammo for his team to never let up! Even Parker admitted it's hard to keep a 25pt lead. Agree Gibson needs to be on the floor more....best ballhandler on the team.

alysheba4 06-11-2007 02:57 PM

cavs are horrid, if they resided in the west...... i dont know if they even make the playoffs.

Seattleallstar 06-11-2007 03:13 PM

if they only signed Jerry Cruz in free agency they would have another potent offensive weapon

The Bid 06-11-2007 05:53 PM

completely outclassed and outcoached against the Spurs.
