Summer Doldrums

Belmont 7 Straight Deal Stakes
I am going to oppose Summer Doldrums first on turf. It's a bit of a guess so I do not want invest too heavily. The thinking is that turf is not SD's best surface from a pedigree standpoint, and his early running style will not work to his favor in this race that includes a turf sprinter and some quality horses with a late kick.

Overlays and Underlays - assuming Doldrums is the underlay; then the exacta/trifecta overlay should be the consistent 5-Admiral Bird. To what degree I am not sure but he likely goes off at higher odds than Summer Doldrums (if not you must adjust from the real odds). I am not crazy about Bird's pedigree, but it isn't awful and Clemente is a pro.
Likely favorite6-Twilight Meteor is well bred and at the level of Admiral Bird. He comes off a poor effort in the lanes end. He did show a sharp work coming out of that race indicating probable soundness. 8-Strike a deal is another possible overlay. This is a versatile Smart Strike horse who appears to be a good animal. #2-Le Dauphin is hopefully/probably a slight underlay. In spite of being by Tale of the Cat, Mott's Dauphin almost has the look of a distance horse and is a bit one paced. Le Dauphin could put it all together, but this could well also be a tightener for a run at 9 furlongs or an upcoming polytrack race.

- ONLY IF Summer Doldrums runs=
$ exabox 658 = $6

$ trifectas
5 68 268 $4
6 58 258 $4
68 268 5 $4
total wager $18

Summer Doldrums ran pretty well on his turf debut. Loss on the head-bob. I stayed away from this race because I had no clue how SD would run.

Thats 2 first on grass in a row I've been wrong on! - Steppenwolfer and now Summer Doldrums..
both decent exactas

didn't wager on this but I was pretty sure SD would run out of the exacta. Wrong. Have to watch the replay , Sounds like Summer Doldrums ran well.

He ran very well. Just ran out of grass. He was in front of the winner 5 feet pass the wire.
