Minister's Bid
I see that he is entered in the ninth race at churchill today....does anyone know where he went and what he did after his disappointing Travers last summer?
|
He went to Florida for some time off and let his quarter crack heal. Recently been working at Keeneland. Hasn't raced since the Travers.
Probably should have been given a freshening after the Jim Dandy, where Prado had him a little more forwardly placed because of the mud, and he had to work really hard to beat the third place horse who had the fast rail. I would prefer to see the 7 set the pace here, with Minister's Bid pressing/stalking. |
this guy was strong contenders stablemate, right?
|
yes he was

Minister's Bid gets it done.
http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/insta...&alternative=1 3/4 of a length win over Forest Phantom. I have to watch the race. From the chart it looks like he worked for the win a couple of times and was not at all patient. Maybe they want Bid to be a sprinter? He seemed like he was best suited and professional enough to rate in stalking position. He isn't fast enough to be a sprinter, and I have to see how much he has matured but he wasn't strong enough to win on the pace in any kind of class at a distance. Phantom is a Running Stag horse that is supposed to be closing in sprints on the turf. Wasn't anything great in this race beyond the top 2 choices. Still Phantom was supposed to regress over the dirt. So either Minister's Bid was really average today or Amoss moved up an established horse in Forest Phantom. |
Barely won against a field of dogs. Immediate toss next out.

Forest Phantom is actually a pretty decent horse.
