Off-Track Saturday

I'm wondering what all of you think about the possibility/likelihood of an off-track for Derby Day. How will this affect your wagering strategy, your selections, etc for the Derby and the other races on the card? Is there anybody you were heavy on that you would toss if this occurs or someone you wouldn't considered except for this possibility? Also, how would this figure into the Oaks as well? Look forward to seeing your opinions...

From what I can gather I think it is good or fast at racetime.

Still a 60% chance of thundershowers. Looks like it will probably be an off track...

I looked at all the hourly reports from now until post time and atleast half of them call for rain. I'm hoping it's only light. I'm going to wait and see, but I'm figuring for an off turf course for the earlier races.

Anyone think that Sedgefield will have a better shot if it rains?

If they get about 14 feet of rain in a two hour stretch, thus making the track a complete and utter swamp so that none of the horses are able to take a step without getting literally stuck in the mud....his chances will improve.
As long as the other horses are physically able to move their legs.....his chances are the same.......zero.

Street Sense is a bit of a question mark on the wet dirt. Hard Spun, Any Given Saturday and Cowtown Cat have decent mud blood. Teuflesberg has the highest speed rating on a muddy track. Hope this adds to the confusion:o

Hard Spun has won 2x in the slop....just checked the weather and it calls for rain off and on through tomorrow....looks like it's gonna be a wet one....

This is JMO (for what it's worth), but Street Sense's way of going may be compromised by an off track. This concerns me... I hope it stops raining by then.

Any Given Saturday would move up on an off track.

I'd actually take Cowtown Cat over him in the slop.

according to the bris pedigree - dominican and greathunter should hate the mud, Any given saturday moves up a small amount

after watching the Southwest about 10 times. I guess I would have to agree that hard Spun did not handle the track. HS has some wicked push from his massive hind legs. On that day you could see him pushing and just not getting anything under him. His legs looked like they were moving faster then his body was moving. So if he likes Churchill so much and a little slop/wet under him will definatley help that massive push of his, probably helping him consume a ton of energy. Just my opnion.

Churchill deserves an off-track for the Oaks and Derby for what they did to YouBet and IRG bettors. Magna has their own betting service both YouBet and IRG customers had no problem (not in the recent past) with betting Magna tracks. Now CDI enters the equation and they block the signal. So there's little doubt in my mind it was CDI who was the aggressor in stopping YouBet/IRG from taking the races. So let the rain pour down. Glad to see it. I'm sure the off track is going to hurt the handle even more.
