Well if some say no to the derby some may scratch out of the race.

Wow. This looks like a really good betting race if there are not a lot of defections. The strange distance, coupled with the large field of horses with similar abilities/limitations, should make it a tough (and therefore potentially profitable) race.

what exactly is the inducement to run in this race? Its not graded. Most of them dont want to run back in the derby a week later. Is there some sort of prestige value to this?

Stupid Derby Trial. All it makes me think of is Spotsgone running a HUGE race at disgusting odds last year, only to get beat by the wrong horse for my ticket keying him in second. I don't even remember another horse that ran in that race last year except for Spotsgone because my whole ticket revolved around him. :mad:
