Do we want...?

...Street Sense to finish 3rd or 4th today? A distant 3rd or 4th?

It would make his run at the Derby be just like the Juvenile. Coming of a mediocre race, on the poly, and then back to the dirt at Churchill for a hopefully a huge performance with some value.

The thing is, around here (meaning this site, and other great horse racing minds) he wouldn't be much of a secret. But enough of the casual fan's dollar keep his odds to rise you think?

i dont think it would matter if he lost today, best case i think you could maybe get 5-1 on him if he losses today, and if he wins today i cant see him being over 5-2. with the freakish performance in the juvenile last year over the churchill track i couldnt see him being over 5-1 even with a loss today, but i guess thats better then 5-2 or 2-1 if he wins today

yes, i would love the horse to run 3rd or 4th just to hopefully get a little price on him in the derby.

but i have to disagree with last years poly race. I dont think it was mediocre at all, I think he ran a heck of a race with all that trouble and to finish where he did. I cant call it mediocre.

I agree with you and DaHoss, I thought his Futurity race was awesome, all things considered and set him up perfectly for the Juvy.

It's Great Hunter and Street Sense 1 & 2. Just flip a coin for the winner.

That BC Juvenile figure is going to jump right off the page at people so he will be bet heavily no matter what he does tomorrow. I don't believe that he could run 3rd or 4th here and comeback and win the Derby. He ran too well on the poly last time to be beat by anyone in this field but Great Hunter. If he does get beat by anyone else (unless we get a freakish performance by someone) I think you have to move his chances in the Derby down.

I did mis-speak when I called his Keeneland race last year "medicore", I'm just hoping for a non-descript 3rd or 4th... but yeah I don't think it'll matter much either. It's almsot like in the NCAA toruney when Georgetown was almost everyone's trendy "sleeper" pick (yeah I know they were a 2-seed, but it seemed like most people had them beating UNC to go to the final 4).

Yeah, but then you're going to have to hope he gets a picture-perfect trip in the Derby, which will prove a lot more challenging in there than in the BCJ, and like Sniper said, he'll still be a pretty short price, if not quite as short as he would be if he won the BG.
