Blinkers Off

This is an OK show. But Watchmaker and Carruthers were talking about the possibility of a dome race track. Now that would be something to see. An indoor race track would be great for northern states. Imagine the Big A getting a dome. Trainers and horseman wouldnt have to send their horses to the south during the winter. I wonder what the costs would be. Heck, if NY ever gets VLT's they could use the revenue to build such a facility.

how big could one even make an indoor track? 1/2 mile? more? less? crazy to think about how much a structure that size would cost.

Just guessing but to dome a mile track you would probably need something about 3 times the size of the superdome which would cost around 3 or 4 billion?

I have no clue. It wouldnt need to be as tall. Talk to a couple of maintenance people to see what the est costs would be.

While we are on this topic, we can get NASCAR to build it if the state allows them to build a track in the city - ha ha

2 billion yen, so roughly 200 million dollars throw in American inefficiency and id say a rough number would be 280 million

You're off by a zero, $2 billion yen = about $20 million USD.

Neither here nor there but I believe the retractable roof at Sha Tin cost 54 million (US dollars, not HK) .....

Didn't realize they had anything similar in Japan.

An indoor racetrack would smell like manass, booze, and horse schit. No thanks.

Call me sick, but I love the smell of a barn in the morning... horse manure, alfalfa and sweet feed. Can't beat it. LOL

Could you imagine the number of farts that would be let loose by the final race? The place would have to be non smoking otherwise it would explode if someone lit a match.
