Has there ever been a bigger money burner than Patriot Act?

I remember way back in the day, somebody jumped the bridge on him when he ran out of the money in New York. He just got finished running off the board at 4/5 at KEE. Yikes.

A famous couple come to mind: War Emblem and Funny Cide.

slotdirt 04-12-2007 03:36 PM

War Emblem? When would he have possibly burned money aside from the Belmont?

POINTGIVEN1985 04-12-2007 06:58 PM

for me it is Baroness Thacher or however you spell it.
i make one bet today and its her and she runs like ****, i have also lost money on her in the past.

Are you guys serious? Is there competition for Artie Schiller. His beyers would be far superior, he would have everything perfectly set up for him. There would be no way that he could lose, and then amazingly ..... Not saying he was a bad horse, obviously won the BC Mile, but if you're talking about money burners it's simply amazing some of the magic he pulled off to lose.

This would be interesting to see what horse has been the fav the most times without winning. Dollar Bill, Artie, Patriot Act, Funny Cide, Corinthian are recent horses that comes to mind.

I like Roman Ruler in this spot. Balletto was another solid money-burner.

alysheba4 04-13-2007 04:33 PM

I love it. He is a fun horse to root for.
If people had bet him to place and show in every one of his lifetime starts....they would have made a lot of money.

If we're talking just in the Derby, I'm gonna go old school...Arazi. Dollar Bill's a good one though, RIP lil fella.
