Update!

Scav 10-07-2008 04:54 PM

I got a workout for this horse from Evangeline the other day, I really really hope they are not trying to bring this horse back. F'n Tomillo RUINED this horse by running him 3 times in 30 days, and he had a bad tendon and he is doing this crap.

And the guy who owned him and hit the jackpot, ended up buying a bunch of 5 and 10k claimers trying to compete with Calabrese and pissed away every penny that this horse made him on bad horses.

I get the feeling I am not looking forward to reading this article when I get home (Work blocks DRF for some reason, but allows Bloodhorse/Equibase/TT Times)

Here's the article, Scav.

For anyone who doesn't remember, LOTG was at New Bolton the same time period as Barbaro.

(... and for the record, I was just really excited to see his name again. There are quite a few who seem to have just disappeared altogether).

Lord of the Game working in Louisiana

Lord of the Game, winner of a Grade 2 stakes as well as $539,920, turned up on the work tab at the Evangeline Downs Training Center in Lafayette on Saturday, going three-furlongs in 37.60 seconds. Lord of the Game, who has a history of tendon troubles, has not raced since finishing sixth in the Grade 3 Fayette at Keeneland on Oct. 29, 2005.

For most of his career, Lord of the Game, 7, was based in the Midwest with trainer Tom Tomillo. He is now in Louisiana with trainer Keith Bourgeois. William Slevin still owns Lord of the Game.

"He had sent me some horses last winter for Delta Downs, and he was one of them in the package," said Bourgeois. "I'm glad to have him. I know he hasn't run since 2005. They had to start and stop on him a couple of times."

Bourgeois said he was pleased with Lord of the Game's first breeze back, and he plans to run him in stakes in this region. He said the earliest the horse would be ready to run is December, at either Fair Grounds or Delta.

"When he's ready, we'll see where they have a race for him," said Bourgeois.

Slevin claimed Lord of the Game out of his career debut for $10,000 in December 2004. A gelding, he went on to win the Grade 2 Cornhusker Breeders' Cup and Grade 3 Hanshin Handicap in 2005. Lord of the Game is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Bluegrass Cat.

Lord of the Game finally back
By Abram Himelstein

NEW ORLEANS - When last seen racing, Lord of the Game was having monster year, 12 starts, 7 victories, triple-digit Beyers, and graded stakes victories. The trouble is, that monster year was 2005.

On the first day of 2009, Lord of the Game will race again, in Thursday's ninth race at Fair Grounds, a first-level optional $30,000 claiming race, going a mile on the main track.

The $44,000 race is a far cry from the graded races he had been running in, but it is a start.

"He's been working really well, and he needs to run," said his new trainer, Keith Bourgeois. "I'd like to find out if he can be even three-quarters of the horse he once was."

And I shall get you a picture of him tomorrow....:)
He is not entered for the tag.
Yikes it's an old man race, 8, 10, 7 and 6 years old.

I'm happy he was 2nd anyway.

Scav dear, I really think you should consider claiming him. He'd be happy!

Maybe not Big Brown happy, but... :p
