Hawthorne 4/2. Gotta get action somewhere!

Today's card is mostly dreadful top to bottom (even moreso than usual), but there are a couple of good betting races mixed in.

Race 1: Short field with what appear to be two standout runners
1. #2 Cee Stone 9-5 2ND ($2.40, $2.10)
2. #5 Mongoose Gold 5-2 WON ($5.00, $2.40, $2.10)

$2 EX: $11.40

Race 2:
1. #5 Alaskan Tizzy 5-1 WON ($5.60, $3.40, $3.00)
2. #3 Cryptic Affair 9-2 SCRATCHED

$2 DD: $20.80

Race 3:
1. #5 Small Value 5-2 3RD
2. #1 Hot Candy 7-2 4TH
3. #6 Master Of Speed 9-2

Race 4: Just a terrible NW3 race here
1. #6 He's A Believer 6-1 Competitive with "lesser" though this race looks a lot like a 5K seller too. 3RD ($2.60)
2. #3 All A's 7-2
3. #7 Socartsmyname 6-1

Race 5:
1. #3 Ghazada 5-1 SCRATCHED
2. #6 Wonderbred 6-1 3RD
3. #4 Silver Genius 3-1 Former Cannon Shell charge up from FG, should take money. Hardly a lock. 4TH

Race 6:
1. #3 Adore Me 3-1
2. #2 Slippery When Wet 8-1
3. #5 Beautiful Brat 5-2

Race 7: Love this wide open 14K seller.
1. #2 Medicine Eyes 5-1 Forgive flop in the slop last out.
2. #8 Spruce Lake 6-1 Romped off a similar layoff last Spring at a square price. Can he do it again?
3. #4 Scottie 4-1 Never far from picking up pieces

Race 8:
1. #3, Leaping Lily 8-1
2. #5 Tiz A Jewel 5-2 If maiden winner stretches out (and she should), she'll be tough to deny in here.
3. #2 Lawabidingcitizen 5-1
4. #1 Spanakoppita 9-2 Stepping up, but a threat on her best after reeling off two big ones against claimers.

Race 9:
1. #2 Bureau Chief 2-1 Looks way too good for these. SCRATCHED
2. #3 Potential Revenue 12-1 Heading in the right direction with drop into MCL last out.
3. #8 Neosho Red 4-1
4. #6 Vedura's Approval 6-1

Pick-4 later. Scratches killed my ticket.

Brian

Because of boredom and home sick today, I handicapped Hawthorne and came up with the following pic 4's

out of the 2nd
7/1,4,5/3,5,6,7/2,4,6 $36

and out of the 6th
1,3,5,7/1,8/1,2,5,8/6,8 $64

perfect $100 total.

The early pick-4 is crap (like always, it never pays well, I'd focus on the late one.), and I wouldn't touch it with your money :)

You're trusting that Gracia is all of the sudden going to prep a winner off of a layoff like this in the sixth? 0 for the last 20 if my stats are right, and only on the board once in those 20 tries.

In the last, you are a brave brave man leaving Bureau Chief out of it completely. To me, he's the closest thing to a single on the whole card.

I have the benefit of knowing the scratches

Oh, oops. That changes everything. Forget it, I'm erasing my late pick-4! I'll add it back in later because I'm not putting everything on the line with the 3.

Meaning of course, that I willed it to happen.

Brian, they're totally ignoring the one here.

If the five has to move up to winners and stretch out, maybe its too much.

Are you playing?

I'm more surprised that the 2 is 6-1 right now. I think that 1 has been on a roll, and if she runs back to it, will be tough in here.

I'm playing the five under the two in some exotics.

ArlJim78 04-02-2007 04:31 PM

I used the one on top, with the four second or third.

Dare I say that I don't like the 4 at all in here.

There, I just cashed your ticket for you.

ArlJim78 04-02-2007 04:37 PM

5/2/4

I thought the four would definitley be in the mix. looking closer at the two before the race I sorta got scared of him too.

anyway, didn't matter. wrong play on my part.
