Handicapping Keeneland, Steve?
In a few days Steve, when Keeneland opens will you be posting handicapping pics for their races each day, as you have Gulfstream's?
Also do many of you handicap Keeneland, as one of your primary meets? |

Thank you Hooves. And yes, it can be killer, that's a given.

Man I hope Arlington plays out the same way. It's been very interesting to watch the new track being installed. What's amazing is the backtop/tar base.
|
Keeneland belongs to Hooves.. The Kentucky Killing Machine.
I'll focus on the Aqueduct main track/lawn and likely Hollywood... Will do KEE stakes and Saturday cards. |

Was it really asphalt, or just road base, which is crushed, compacted limerock? This allows for drainage (water can percolate down through the limerock), which I guess is the reason why rain doesn't affect the surface.
|
it was asphalt like they put on driveways or roads. There is a chunky rock base under that and it looks like they have to fill in about 2-3 feet ontop. They're already filling in with poly on the first turn.

Thanks for that, Pais. It seemed very strange that they would use asphalt, but with 10 inches of poly-stuff on top of it, I guess it's safe.

Maybe Arlington should have called Woodbine before installing the surface
