Sumwons on the road

I guess our girl ships back up north today, here's hoping the van ride is smooth, and Chuck's string arrives safely at Churchill.

Only sixteen days until we may see the Dee Tee silks in public for the first time! :) Who is coming to Keeneland?

jman5581 03-26-2007 01:33 PM

I have to wait for this semester to be over before I can travel...hopefully I'll be there for her 2nd or 3rd race for Dee Tee. Hopefully at CD. :)

Yeah, responsibilities' a bear :D

Where are you, what are you studying?

AeWingnut 03-26-2007 05:31 PM

scheduled the day off

I have scheduled the day off. I plan on driving down and staying for the race then driving back. Not too worried until I find out the race filled and sumwon got in.

TheSpyder 03-26-2007 07:14 PM

I'm hopeing to be there. Still to early to tell but we'll see!

Spyder from SC

Riot 03-26-2007 08:31 PM

I'll be there for the afternoon. Do have to leave after the race, however.

stevepopyak 03-26-2007 09:42 PM

If she's in, I'll be there.

I'm looking at flights right now. But I'm thinking of flying into Louisville the night before and driving down. That way I might get a chance to check out Churchill Downs (which I've never done) and see Sumwon the day after the race. How about it, Chuck? Okay if I stop by the morning after the race (assuming the race fills and she draws in)?

No problem at all. She is at Churchill and shipped well. She goes back to the track on Thursday.

Sounds great. As it gets closer to the day of the race, I'll be asking for more information about stopping by. But I've made my reservations and I'm coming to Kentucky. I can't believe it...

Great news on the ship, Chuck - thanks for the update!!!!

I may have missed these answers before so forgive me if I'm asking a repeat- can you provide us with a general idea of:

1) Which days are good days to come by the barn?
2) What time is a good time to stop by so we don't get in the way?
3) What barn number are you in at Churchill?
4) Assuming we would need an owners badge to get into the stable area, in lieu of a badge how would we get in?
5) Will an out-of-state owners badge get me access to the stable area?

I ask because I will be in Louisville on April 28 and 29. I hope to be able to stop by and see the filly, and to meet you if we haven't met at Keeneland a day before.

By good days, I mean which days are the most laid back for you. My trainer in MD would only walk horses on Sunday so it was a good day to go since there wasn't much going on. She was usually finished by 9am so anytime after that was good to go so I didn't get in the way of anything.

Thanks!!!!

Chuck, we will still be around the day after the race also and would certainly love to stop by to see her on Thursday morning .... again, only if it fits your schedule and we are not in anyone's way. Thanks.

Benny Leger 03-28-2007 05:04 PM

anyone coming to keeneland ?

we definitely will be there on 4/11. would like to visit her at c.d. but do not have the details of when or where to go. any info would be helpful.

Riot 03-30-2007 10:09 AM

I've contacted Keeneland to see if there's a box available that day for us - if not that, we'll just pull the school bus up real close to the fence :-)

southerndutch 03-30-2007 01:41 PM

Will be in Section E,Row A, seat 2 on the 11th. Stop by and say hi.

but I've never been to Keeneland or any other Ky track

Definitely for the big days, but this particular Wednesday should have plenty of open grandstand seating available.

If I'm wrong, I'm going to sit on dutchs' lap:p

The dining rooms are wasted on me, as I go from the paddock, stop at the window, watch the race, and back again. I couldn't stand to spend all day inside, air-conditioned, up high.

Well, maybe it depends upon the buffet quality ....

we sat all afternoon at oaklawn last saturday...i was going stir crazy! i never sit that long..
the buffet was ok. the seven and sevens were good tho!

Riot 03-31-2007 08:54 PM

When I'm at the track, I like to be right up near the horses. I like to watch them in the paddock, make my picks, then open the program to see who's who. Get right down on the rail when the gates are in front of the grandstand for the break. Watch them walk off afterwards, see who handled it well.

So close you might get snot blown into your drink <vbg> That's racing <g>
