Gentleman's Deal - Best of both worlds!!

Just won the Lingfield Winter Derby.. Maybe a horse to follow for the rest of the year?? well, read the article below..

from sportinglife.

Gentleman's Deal held on gamely to land the £100,000 Betdirect Winter Derby at Lingfield Park.

The 4-1 joint-favourite wore down Blue Bajan inside the final furlong and kept on strongly under Paul Mulrennan to take the spoils for veteran trainer Mick Easterby.

Grand Passion (25-1) ran on close home to claim second place just a neck behind, with Illustrious Blue (11-1) the same distance away in third.

Gentleman's Deal is now 10-1 joint-favourite for the William Hill Lincoln at Newcastle next Saturday with VC Bet.

The Lincoln sponsors go 8-1 from 16-1. Mulrennan told Channel 4 Racing: "I pressed the button on the turn in and he picked up and galloped all the way to the line."

Easterby, who was making his first visit to Lingfield, said: "It's unbelievable. He'll probably run at Newcastle if the ground is good."

Gentleman's Deal combines racing with his duties as a stallion and is set to return to stud shortly.

"He covered 40 mares last year and he's got 50 mares waiting for him," added Easterby.

Owner Stephen Curtis added: "He goes back to work as a stallion in 10 days' time."
