I believe we have a rule about linking advertising. Go to DRF classifieds for verification. I kind of miss ol' George.

You would think Karakorum's fees/shares are due for a moderate increase.

Bystander 03-21-2007 01:45 PM

I honestly though this was a joke. Unbelievable.

blackthroatedwind 03-21-2007 01:51 PM

Why would he want to get involved with them? Seems very odd.

Linny 03-21-2007 01:54 PM

I saw that myself. Of course for year's they had 1 horse with Jimmy Jerkens so they could use his name in advertising. By the admission of a Karakorum exec, they prefer Odintz and Jerkens has broken down every horse they have given him. Jeff does a decent job with the horses they give him. Geez, they rarely spend more than $6k for a horse.
I think they have kept one with Linda Rice for the same reason.

They told you that?

As I seem to recall they have told a number of odd stories in the past. But, that's not for me to say.

blackthroatedwind 03-21-2007 03:15 PM

A friend of mine had a piece of a horse with Karakorum that recently returned off a layoff. She told me that I might want to take a second look at him as she had received notice from Karakorum that he had been gelded since his last start.

She was surprised when I told her that I looked it up and the horse had been listed in DRF as a gelding in its prior two starts.

Posters flocking...

I really am pretty surprised to hear any of them would be quite so candid when talking about their trainers. All my dealings with them have been met with cagey defensiveness, and that includes out right lies covering up mistakes anyone who can read a pp could spot. And Pletcher? That is just insane. I imagine they overpaid for some NY bred, and felt like the only way they can get partners to sign on is to promise the Miracle Worker.

Ya know, I never really read those even when I bought the print edition, but I'll have to check them out.

A friend of mine who runs a partnership told me just the other day he has actually done OK with ads there.
