FBI
Golly gee wizzzz......
What has happened to this country? Do we have a "Constitution" that contains a "Bill of Rights" that assures rights to privacy? Seems that at the same time we seek to bring all of the glories of liberty and freedom to other countries, we do so at our own expense. Such a shame! Such an abuse! And to think that it could happen right here, in the "land of the free, and the home of the brave". http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-w...curity-letters Shame on those that did this. And for those that seek to put shame on ME for calling attention to this outrage, consider those that lived in Germany in the years before Hitler took away their liberties and the lives of their fellow citizens for religious beliefs. Shame! Shame! Shame! I post this because I resist that which is taken so easily by those that disregard something that has been bought and paid for by the blood of so many. Shame! |

From the Washington Post...
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, a Vermont Democrat, also vowed oversight hearings. "The average American can take away the fact that you have FBI officers who felt that they were above the law, and they could just go in and look at anything they wanted on their own (and) would not have to follow the law," he said. --------------- Gonzales looks to cover his bunzollas, as he is in charge of the FBI. I predict he'll be gone the way of Rummy. Bye bye Alberto...it can't happen soon enough. |
'patriot' act. a farce of a name. not surprised that some are going to far. give them an inch....
it's funny the amount of times that i hear people say oh, i'd give some of my rights away to be safer. the last thing you'd be is safer. what's that little anecdote about not saying anything when others were taken...then when i was taken, there was no one to speak up. three cheers for the aclu. they speak for those few that no one else will! the minority whose rights would be trampled by those who believe that 'majority rules'. NO, IT DOES NOT! speaking of which.... a city manager in florida, the city escapes me, has gone public with his decision to have a sex change operation. so guess who was put on leave? why? they hired the best person right? not the best man--so why can't he do his job if he's the best woman for it???? |

In the end, we have only those rights which we can defend, only those rights! There is no such thing as giving up "some" rights for safety or any other reason! Without the Constitution, our own government will become a terrorist organization! |

Look at the bright side. Iraq has a constitution...paid for with American soldiers blood. Modeled by?? Our current administration has done for them what it hasn't done for those that funded their debacle. Yes, the ACLU has had problems, however, the mission remains...American Civil Liberties Union. Protecting the rights of ALL under the Constitution is an admirable purpose. I don't think you and I are very far away from commonality views on the abuses of power. |

The point is our Constitution is being ignored. The question, has our own government become the terrorist organization that we feared form outside? Or is this one that came from inside? You be the judge. |
it's not a new fight. been going on for some time. go back to the time of the revolution, and immediately after. matter of fact, many of us may need to re-read everything this country has been thru, good and bad. as for iraq and it's woes--it wasn't all a bed of roses when we had our war for independence, and it didn't go swimmingly afterwards either--for years after, and then our civil war....hell, people down here still want to fight it, still accuse lincoln of being a war criminal, still say the south will rise again. hello, the south is doing just fine, welcome to the 21st century!!
our country has experienced colossal growing pains-but if it was easy, anyone could do it. but we must continue to fight the good fight, our rights are worth that. it's what all those before us fought for, and we need to do the same for ourselves and future generations. |
i have nothing to hide..what you think this is new...hoover was the worst....

This is about what is happening today. I also have nothing to hide, but it is not for the government to disregard the very foundations on which this country is premised. It is about NOW. Not Hoover. |
