I agree that Cheney will be out of the spotlight for a while.
Now, two questions...
Appeal will be filed, and the "stall" will go on. Libby is looking at 4-5 years.
I don't think he'll flip. So, do you think Bush will grant a pardon?
If he does, do you think it will damage the Repubs in future elections?

Here's how it was reported in the Guardian (UK). Last paragraph is worth the read.

Sentencing in June..With appeals could go on forever...No reason for him to flip now, too late..Maybe this guilt of the Office of the VP plus the thrombosis of the VP himself will result in a resignation for health reasons, leaving Nancy "a heart-beat away"...Talk of a pardon has been on-going thru the trial, but i don't think so..Dumya Bush in deep schit now, no need to dig deeper...Watch Hardball tonite, he's on the warpath looking for more scalps.

You could be correct. Bush has "party loyalty", and a pardon will be problematic. Don't expect much from Tony Snow (job) at the next press conf.
either..."There's an ongoing legal action and I can't comment."
Matthews smells blood. Should be interesting.

Yeah, i love Tony Snowjob, perfect man for that job..So smooth i almost believe him...lol....Quite a contrast from that stiff before him......btw, Olberman has Joe Wilson on tonite...

Downthestretch55 03-06-2007 03:14 PM

Thanks for the tip about Olberman. Thought he was on vacation.
I'm guessing the Bushies would like to see Anna Nicole dug up so her story could dominate the "news" again for a while, at least until the heat dies down.
I saw that "Faux News" had about 50 stories about her, one on Libby.
Dubbya said something interesting this AM in his speech to the VFW...
He called Iraq a "shituation". No kidding.

Bigrun, I almost spit my coffee when he said that. It won't be in the transcript but if you can find a video...LOL!

Now, here's an article that poses some real questions. Look for the US press to avoid investigating Italy and making any connects.

'Now maybe special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald and what passes for journalists in the mainstream media can get down to the real business of finding out just why the entire White House smear operation was unleashed upon a minor state department official and why they went so far as to violate federal law and expose his CIA-operative wife, Valerie Plame, in the process destroying her entire network of contacts for monitoring the spread of nuclear weapons in the Middle East'

Hardball has been on that very issue for at least two years, wants to know the reasons and the persons responsible for going to war in Iraq....I've been waiting longer....

Bigrun,
Don't expect Fitzgerald to continue. He's already said that he's done.
Now watch for others that are heard to ask the questions.
Forbes put this out...
http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/...ap3490365.html

Cheney is the target now.
Either he will step down due to serious "health" issues or duck from the answers that he needs to give.
We'll see.

And no, I don't plan any "hunting trips" with him. He's pulled the trigger on his buddies. Now it's time for him to get a face full.
BANG!!

Follow up. This is unconfirmed. I found it at a diff site and just share it.

(CNN) March 6, 2007 435pm EST

Aides for Vice President Cheney said today he is considering resigning from office. Cheney told Bush because of Libby's Scooter's conviction, Cheney was involved in the scandal. It was not know if Bush would pardon Cheney and Scooter. This is another scandal rocking the white house and some experts feel President Bush may leave office before 2009.

He should. The notes that he wrote on some of the White House memo's are... not good at all. The VP is not supposed to be transfixed with this kind of crapola when a war is going on. Bad stuff. Cheney has done himself (and the country) no service with those little notes he wrote in.

pgardn,
I agree.
Do you remember how we got into this war?
Suffer those that died for the lies, and those that sustained wounds and lack of care. The mantra has been "support our troops". I do.
The fabricators are the ones I could do without.
Do you think a pardon is in order?
Do you think there should be an investigation into Halliburton's no-bid contracts and who might have arranged for them?
Loyal Americans await answers, as they should.

Downthestretch55 03-07-2007 12:56 PM

The pardon is already being floated.
