Bourbon Courage and El Padrino are supposed to be there as well.

Danzig 01-29-2013 09:08 PM

He lost his last start to Citrus Kid, who isn't exactly much.

I'm interested to see if Bourbon Courage shows improvement as a 4YO.

Linny 01-29-2013 09:54 PM

MMM was campaigned so sparingly last year that I am surprised to see him listed as likely off short rest.

yeah, EP had been laid off awhile, so i figure his loss last out is forgivable. no telling-he may improve (obviously) or he may just be another decent 3 yo who doesn't move forward.

bourbon courage is definitely one to watch.

Well, the SunMill Classic was basically a five-eighths work. He's been good since so why not run here..

I think she makes a good point. They were racing him every two months last year, at the expense of both the Whitney and JCGC, and now they are running him on three weeks rest. Your point is valid as a general sentiment, but considering the handling of this horse, it's very surprising.

And, I don't agree that the Sunshine Millions was close to " basically a five-eighths work. "

NTamm1215 01-30-2013 10:06 AM

Their need for a Grade I is the driving force I'm sure. I agree that it makes no sense given the laid back approach of 2012. Especially when he exits the worst race of his career.

Welsch adds Flat Out to Donn runners.. He noted that he is still waiting for a Mucho Macho Man confirm.

Looks like he's done. No works last two weekends. Todd strikes again?

blackthroatedwind 02-03-2013 08:46 PM

It's a good thing they stopped on him before the lucrative 3YO races last Summer in order to focus on his 4YO campaign.

“After the Derby, he just needed some time to regroup, and we decided if we were going to focus on a 4-year-old campaign, we needed to give him a meaningful break,” Pletcher said. “And if we are possibly looking to target a race like the Donn this winter, we needed to get a race under his belt now to see where he is. So here we are.”

The guy is a habitual liar. He just can't help himself.
