Sat night race 3 @ Meadowlands ST. Elmo Hero. The purse is 65k, driver Tim Tetrick has stated that he has not gotten to the bottom of this horse. Should be an easy win for 23 in a row. Getting somewhat close to the legendary Bret Hanover's record of 35 in a row. Bret won all 24 starts as a 2 year old and his first 11 as a 3 year old.

23 in a row. A new lifetime mark of 1:49.1. And driver Tim Tetrick celebrates his 6,000 career win. A very impressive performance.

Wow, impressive!

Thanks for the update. :)

That's bookin' it for a trotter... Nice to see him get yet another win...

Too bad he's not getting the attention he deserves.

Do all three of you play this kind of racing?

I wouldn't know where to begin. :wf

Elmo is a pacer not trotter. I have been involved in harness racing for 20 years. Our sport definitely has major issues, one of which is a lack of publicity to inform people when we have a superstar.

I'm going to show my stupidity here and ask what the difference is.

I know, I can google it but I'd rather hear it from someone who follows the sport and yeah why is there next to no press about a horse like this?

Arletta 01-31-2011 11:33 AM

Looks like it has to do with a difference in their gate, and Pacers wear hobbles and Trotters do not.

Interesting... thanks for the link!

Great explanation, hope it helps. Pacers are faster than Trotters as they tend to glide over the track and the pounding on the track doesn't seem to be as severe as watching a thoroughbred.

Hard not to root for the connections of this horse. Sure that last race was a soft spot, but they brought him home for the fans, and donated the entire purse to charity. Hope he can win again at Woodbine.

I don't follow harness racing anywhere near like I used to, but Rainbow Blue was the cat's meow for me. I loved her.

Tries for # 25 in race 9 at Woodbine tonight.
