UPDATES: Maus chases, Magdalena, Kid near starts, more..

Last Wednesday, MAUS ran an even 5th, breaking sharp and chasing a fast pace on the very slick turf. She got stepped on by someone and came out with a gash to her right front, but was otherwise OK. She got a 48 Beyer for the effort. It's apparent that she wants to go longer than 5.5-6f, so we'll look towards 7f to a mile. As Marc, Neil & Steve saw in the paddock (See photo below), she continues to grow and has actually gotten to be kind of leggy. Would be ideal for her to win before the winter, so expect another try at Belmont and/or Aqueduct before December.

Everyone downstate is doing well with the suddenly mature and composed CPL. MAGDALENA thriving as she works towards her 3yo debut with recent 36.2 & 37.1 breezes. While still a bit witchy, she's calmed down remarkably since the layoff and is training eagerly. She's very close to a start which might come at Finger Lakes.

KID CHOCOLATE was close to a start but filled up with mucous 2 weeks ago and needed a 5 day antibiotic shot to clear it. He lost a few days of training but is otherwise terrific. (See photo). His comeback race is close.

VOLTAIRINE is breezing half miles and 5f regularly and is approaching her debut. There's a 6f MSW on the NY Bred Showcase card 10/19 that may be the spot. Also on the 2yo front, CLAUDE RAY is now working on the turf at Palm Meadows and clearly is a grass horse. He is far more comfortable and fluid on the lawn, which doesn't come as a surprise. He is a very big horse that continues to grow and Susan is bring him along steadily. As a horse that wants to go long, there is no immediate plan for a debut. With racing having moved to Calder for the next 2 months, it's likely we'll wait until Gulfstream reopens in December. Keep in mind that Tampa Bay Downs opens in December and will have opportunities for us as well.

Finally, CARLISLE BELLE eagerly awaits some bad fall weather and MTO chances at the NY bred N1X level. She fired a :48.0 bullet Tuesday and appears set for a big effort when the spot materializes.
