Hard to know how much difference it made, but Pedroza doing his best Leparoux imitation on Private Zone could not have helped his chances at all. That was bizarre.

I'm thinking it had to have been an equipment issue with Private Zone pulling to one side on the bit. Pedroza has never tried to wrangle down PZ's speed before, why would he randomly try it today?

thats why I dont understand the fractions..PZ might have still lost but that horse has never run 24/48 opening quarters

I assume you are right after watching it again. Glad I didn't have $$ on him I guess. He would have been tough to catch running his normal race.

That was a great race and effort by Tonalsit whom I thought was going to be pulled up. Red Vine I thought was the best in there and lost momentum trying to squeeze through a hole. i think he wins with a clear run. I also agree with Joey, Private Zone seemd to have equipment problems.

Its close regarding who was best because Tonalist was so far off the moderate pace. As for Red Vine I think he wins with a clear run. He was bottled up and steadied all while Tonalist is moving in the clear.

Why Private Zone has had four trainers?

cakes44 12-01-2015 06:24 PM

This will comfort all that bet on him I'm sure:

Had to move from O'Neill while he was out on a suspension; Velazquez was always strictly a temporary stop-gap; Navarro did a nice job with Private Zone but Douglas didn't enjoy dealing with him.

"I usually give him 90 days (off in the winter), but I have to talk to Brian," Douglas said. "We haven't discussed it all yet. If we want to make Dubai, then I can't give him three months off, since the race is in March. If we don't go to Dubai, my intent is to give him three months off.

seems like before you start making plans for a horse, you check with the horse....

"The horse was tired after the Breeders' Cup and he only went into the race with four or five days of galloping... We never had a chance to work him, because obviously he didn't want to do it the day it was planned, and at that point I should have made a decision not to go. I just should have said, 'No.' "

Seems like the horse tried to say no, but they didn't listen.
