Much Better literally ran much better in an allowance than either of Baffert's San Vincente starters a day later.
Main track issues at Santa Anita aside, I wonder why he continues to press the turf campaign with the horse. Even Much Better's Sham effort--where he made the lead way too soon--suggests at the very least he's a marginal Derby prospect if not a top one-turn type for the Woody Stephens, Allen Jerkens, etc. EDIT: With rain in the forecast and the potential for the race to come off the turf, I guess Baffert could come out of this looking sharper than I originally thought. |
