Joel Rosario shifting his tack to NY

Joel Rosario, among the leading riders in Southern California, will be moving his tack to Belmont Park beginning June 27, his agent Ron Ebanks said Sunday.

he will be back

I hope Ebanks has some things lined up already, otherwise I don't see where all of these mounts are supposedly going to come from.

I wish him well and agree... he'll be back.

I'll never forget the way he pulled up Battle of Hastings last year on Derby day and will forever be happy that he was on that horse and not, well... not important.

But who will ride Creative Cause!?

helicopter11 06-17-2012 10:53 PM

Velasquez is injured so he can fill in on some of those live mounts

Don't worry about Ronnie. He has a very solid relationship inventory.

Giving up a gig where you're first call for just about every favorite in 5-6 horse fields to come east to take part in the NY money grab seems a bit foolish to me.

I think he may be exposed as being a very average rider, and may have a tough time going back as there is plenty of talent (relatively speaking) in the jock's room at Del Mar/Hollywood.

Good luck to him, I hope I'm wrong - I don't see him taking over many of JV's mounts - especially if he doesn't make a strong impression very early on.

Yeah, but on the flip side. With the full fields that NYRA will have, you would think that he should have no problem finding mounts on a pretty consistent basis.

Rosario's agent is one of the most popular people in racing ( for good reason ) and he's also extremely smart. There is little chance he is coming here to fly by the seat of his pants.

Who is the most unpopular?

Does Ebanks have anyone else other than Rosario?

I remember him having Michael Baze, then Talamo and Tyler Baze in tandem before Rosario.

Rosario will do fine anywhere he goes.

That's why I get so amused by the commentary. If some of the "experts" knew Ronnie, most of this thread wouldn't exist.

The guy is an elite young rider with a world class agent, instead of wondering if he will get mounts, people should be wondering what took so long.

If people on message boards talked about things they actually knew about there would be VERY few posts.
