SUMWONLOVESYOU: Work/Race/Partners

Chuck will be updating the ChuckBlog later today, but in the meantime, there's plenty to report on Dee Tee Stable and Sumwonlovesyou.

SATURDAY'S WORK

The big girl worked 5f+ yesterday in a nice 1:02.2 at Churchill Downs in company with Mixteca, an older horse who Chuck describes as 'very solid'. They broke off slowly for the first part of the work with Sumwon about two lengths back and she got to Mixteca in the second half of the spin. They finished on dead even terms.

Working under comeback-trying veteran rider Pat Johnson (Bourbon Belle), Sumwon pleased Chuck immensely with how much more professional she has become. He figures she did the 2nd half of the work in about 1:12.+ and she was barelt blowing after the work indicating she is pretty much fit. Chuck will try to get a photo up of her in the next day or so as he says the "before and after" comparisons will be very apparant.

Partner Benny Leger was on hand for the effort...

APRIL 11 ALW STILL TARGETED

The April 11 ALW at KEE remains the target for Sumwonlovesyou's first start under the Lime and Blue silks of Dee Tee. Jockey Jim Graham is a possible rider, but Chuck will monitor who is getting assignments in the race and decide from there. The card draws Saturday, April 7, so those making decisions about attending can formulate plans at that point.

STILL TAKING ON DEE TEE PARTNERS

If you are new to Derby Trail, or thought it was too late to get in the partnership, there is no reason why you cannot... Since there are no fees beyond the $500 investment, you can join in what we hope is going to a great time. Chuck is watching condition books at Churchill, Arlington and Colonial for races for Sumwon, so pending her run at Keeneland, she could be 'racing near you' soon!

Let me know your E-mail address and I will send a Prospectus/Agreement to you if you'd like to get involved...

CONSIDERING A NY-BRED PARTNERSHIP

Chuck and I are watching out for a modestly priced NY-bred to add a second horse to Dee Tee's offerings, so that we will have one for his string at Saratoga this summer. Please indicate your interest in this opportunity on this thread as I have not yet written up a prospectus for this... We just wanted to get a feel for the interest level...

Thanks to everyone for their interest and support!

It all sounds.....

Very positive Steve. I know i'm not a partner, hope to be at some point, but i wish you all nothing but the best. At least i can go to the window on the 11th :). It certainly sounds like she's progressing nicely, and if Chuck's pleased that says alot. Congrats, and go DEE TEE'S :)! Graham would be great too.

ArlJim78 04-01-2007 11:24 AM

By all means get Jimmy Graham if you can. Solid rider for a solid horse.

southerndutch 04-01-2007 11:31 AM

Count me in for another share.

AeWingnut 04-01-2007 11:33 AM

Thanks for the update. 5f in 1:02 is much better than 1:05. Again time isn't too important. Hopefully she will go past the other horses when it matters:D

I would be good for 1 share in the NY partnership even though I am probably never going to make a trip out east.

BPLichorowiec 04-01-2007 12:54 PM

She seems to be improving and heading in the right direction. All great news to read about. Thanks again for the in depth details!

I would also be interested to become part of the NYB partnership. This partnership has already been fun and Sumwon hasnt even race yet.

PeteMugg 04-01-2007 12:55 PM

If the NY partnership is similar, count me in.

stevepopyak 04-01-2007 01:08 PM

Yep, I'm interested in the NYB partnership.

Bigsmc 04-01-2007 01:14 PM

Count me in for the NYB Partnership.

Thanks for the Sumwon update.

I agree. I rarely recall thinking, "Graham blew that race." He just doesn't make that many terrible decisions.

pweizer 04-01-2007 01:47 PM

Interested as well.

Holland Hacker 04-01-2007 01:49 PM

I would be interested in a NYB P-ship. After all "They start with an advantage."

IrishofNDMan 04-01-2007 02:08 PM

Going to Vegas first part of may, but after that I would for sure be interested in the next partnership just so I can tell all my friends and family I own part of a horse, even if it is small.

Steve,

I'd be in....

As for the workout & progress, is Sumwon changing leads now?
