Feel horrible for Two Phil's peeps. He was becoming a nice horse for connections that we don't see much of at the G1 level. Tough game

They had two shots at Grade 1s after his Derby effort. He was already Grade 1 as far as 3yos go this year.

Perhaps that's part of the reason why you don't see those type connections at the Grade 1 level. They get a diamond in the rough & they try to show up the heavy hitters but only ended up shooting themselves in the foot.

Madaket bought into him so they already reaped some benefits I suppose but what value do you put on saying the horse was a Preakness winner instead of an Ohio Derby winner on the stud advert?

Meanwhile, the post-injury comments from one of the owners were quite unflattering & if taken out of context, could more fuel for anti-racing people. "Devastated" not out of concern for the horse but rather because they were booking plane tickets for a big party at the Haskell. Also, felt it a "blessing" that the dam suffered a similar injury because if she hadn't been injured she wouldn't have produced Two Phil's.
