Curious on what people think of the Turf Sprint? I am leaning towards Bucchero and Hogy.

Maybe Pure Sensation, his BC race last year was lights out considering he drew the dreaded rail down the hill..........he likes 5/8ths also.
I can tell you that the grassy 5 furlong races in the Summer @ DMR played
very fairly.
They didn't favor inside/outside or speed/closers.

I can't get past Disco Partner and I don't care what his post is.

Kick out Unique Bella and there's nothing special in the F&M Sprint to say the least. Probably gonna take a shot with Ami's Mesa.

As opposed to the other editions of this race that were filled with rocket ships? By the way, what is so "special" about Unique Bella, other than the hype, at this point in her career?

I actually think this race came up quite good. Thinking about taking a stab against the hype horse, Unique Bella. Skye Diamonds is sharp right now, she likes Del Mar and should get a good trip. If I can get 6-1 on her I'll take her over Highway Star and Carina Mia, I'm just a sucker for the the latter horse.

Pardon me if this has been addressed but...Has there ever been an explanation as to why the F&M sprint is 7f and the boys run 6f?

I would offer two opinions on your question.

1. It does feel like 7 furlong is the distance the better graded races are run for fillies rather than males, such as the Ballarina, Humana Distaff, Test, Santa Monica. Where there are several grade 1's at 6f for males.

2. There has always been some talk that at 6f, and this was really rampant in the 90's that saw several high profile breakdowns in the Sprint, that 6f is especially demanding at this high level. If it had not been set at 6 for 30 years you wonder if they would not prefer it at 7f for males as well. Of course that also interferes with the dirt mile which has no counter with the fillies and mares.

So we're in agreement...sounds good.

She would be a near cinch in the distaff, or whatever they call it now.

As it is, this is the time to try to beat her.

Do you really believe this?

She looks so much better visually than anyone else, I believe she has tremendous upside still.

Always thought Awesome Slew was best going a mile,he was flattered a bit last Saturday at Keenland.
AS reminds of last years Dirt Mile winner Tamarkuz quite a bit........at double digits he's an easy play for me.

I'm 4 deep.
6,7,8,9
And I agree it's low. But 5-1 was equally as insane.

That was really good result for me, can relax now.

taxicab 11-03-2017 11:15 PM

Highway Star is all heart..........looking for the upset Saturday.
Takaful is feeling his oats indeed...........good enough for me.

Here is something ineteresting, Paulasilverlining has not had a coded red pace (TUS) race since the Matron at Belmont two years ago. In fact half her races have been coded blue, now its hard to know what riders will do but should she catch a fast pace I think she is viable to win this race at a good number.

Disco Partner may have run the best race with the post and the slow pace, despite what the announcer said 22 is not blistering on that turf course, even for a route its only slightly fast.

How is Unique Bella even money...the betting on the chalks has been over the top the last couple days.
