Alli, as you continue to compete with our group of handicappers, you will undoubtedly see that there are many different approaches to both of the contests. Some post early and return to edit their selections after scratches have been announced. Others wait to finalize their picks until close to the deadline, trying to factor in things like track conditions.

In the ROI contest you will notice even more variety in our approaches, from trying win bets on several longshots to placing the entire amount on a single solid pick to trying to master an exotic such as the superfecta or the pick 4. The beauty of this is that there is no right or wrong approach - it is a matter of which approach the individual horseplayer finds most rewarding. Observing how others structure their bets or trying different ones yourself are excellent ways to learn and improve one's game.

I agree...I have much to learn and I appreciate seeing how others dissect a race. Thanks for the input.

PS--I have a smoke detector port that is continuing to chirp even though I've unplugged the smoke detector. If anyone knows what I can do to make it stop, please let me know. I changed the battery in the smoke detector, reset it and it still chirped. Unplugged everything...they are wired into the home electric....now, the plug in port is chirping...how is that possible?

This must be a stand alone detector? Otherwise your alarm provider, like ADT, would have called?

Alli 02-15-2020 01:39 PM

I don't have an alarm company...just smoke detectors wired into the home electric. It's the port that plugs into the smoke detector. I don't understand because I'm not aware that the port has anything in it that allows it to chirp.

I've contacted the maker of the smoke detector and my son-in-law is a Fire chief, so I think we'll probably be able to figure it out, but the chirping is unnerving.:zz:

Alli: go to You Tube and type in "Fix or Stop Smoke Detector from Chirping". There are short videos and long ones. There are many on You Tube. All say that it needs to be reset. Better yet put the Name of the Smoke Detector (like "Kidde" or "BKE"?) in your search. That should help you.

Alli 02-15-2020 01:46 PM

Thanks....Youtube is my best friend....I did reset the detector...it's not the detector now. It's the port that plugs in the electricity to the detector. I'm at a loss. Think it may be a defective plug....we'll see.

Just might....teach a horse to win....
