DRF down?

I haven't been able to access DRF for the last twelve hours.

Any other problems out there?

tector 05-21-2014 10:18 AM

Yeah, I could not get them this morning.

Typical.

A power issue at DRF data center blew core switches on our servers. IT team has been working through night to fix. Stay tuned, and thanks.

Our IT staff is still working to address issues. Thanks for your patience. We'll alert you as soon as http://drf.com is back online.

It's not as bad as what happened at Emory University.

NTamm1215 05-21-2014 11:36 AM

This is beyond embarrassing. It's been down since 7:00 PM last night.

luvalab 05-21-2014 01:06 PM

Just tried to access the site a few minutes ago, still down. Got a standard 404 error.

hoovesupsideyourhead 05-21-2014 01:22 PM

yes wtf..

helicopter11 05-21-2014 03:08 PM

http://live.drf.com/

Apparently it was a massive power outage at their data center.
That is not a good excuse. A data center shouldn't be without a transfer switch and backup power.

Stickhorse 05-21-2014 03:19 PM

And then the knuckle heads refer us to another address that won't load!

Hmm, live.drf.com isn't loading right now.

The servers that run live.drf.com are having some trouble. This is usually just a temporary problem, so you might want to try again in a few minutes.

Really? How about the way Forumlator crashed before the Derby.

They should hire the Obamacare website team--even they weren't this incompetent.

Most major hosting companies have generator backups and a quick power outage shouldn't be an issue. However, if the actual equipment/server was damaged and they chose to move to another server location it could take up to 24hrs for the ip address to propagate.

Stickhorse 05-21-2014 07:08 PM

This outage will effect the print edition of the DRF, expect delays.

Rudeboyelvis 05-21-2014 08:07 PM

How in the hell can this possibly occur in this day and age? Is it 1995 or something? You have no redundancy whatsoever? NONE??!!! No backup server farm? No tertiary cloud? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING??!! Wow. And these hacks have your credit card data...

Beyond bush league by leaps and bounds - Simply incomprehensible.

Brightside - we'll get two free formulators after the the GP P6 is over.... LOL
