Very interesting indeed. Mayan King trying to rebound from Liquor Cabinet race. NY Hero trying to regain old form. DDC ships up from Florida where he has run a few good ones. And the return of EA. Think I might bet against him here. Layoff, age and knowing Aqu Inner can be sppedway seem to play against him. Mr Whitestone on the stretch out?

Sightseek 02-07-2007 12:57 PM

The old guy is back in action. :)

DEES3 02-07-2007 01:12 PM

Malibu Moonshine?

How long has Malibu Moonshine been off, seems like a long time? Is Leatherbury still his trainer?

slotdirt 02-07-2007 01:15 PM

Won the Tesio a couple years ago, then I have no clue what he's been doing.

Correct. I can't read or watch the horse without thinking of Bold..he was writing essays about the horse in the winter of his 3 year old year before Mayan got hurt and was off the Derby Trail.

Danzig 02-07-2007 02:03 PM

gotta set the dvr. i read a few weeks ago that EA was returning. best of luck to the old guy!

will be pulling for malibu moonshine here.

sumitas 02-07-2007 11:38 PM

His 1/2 brother Dr Rockett stands in NY @ Mill Creek Farm.

Sightseek 02-09-2007 03:08 PM

The old guy was 3rd! :)

Mayan King won....kicking off his 2007 Horse of the Year campaign.

Evening Attire

Well what did everyone think of the hard knocking 9 year old Pat Kelly charge today? He ran a very non threatening 3rd, passing a few very tired horses.

I love this horse and anytime he runs is good for me as a fan.

I didnt wager on the race. If I did I would have bet Mr Brownstone because I like that Guns n Roses song. His performance was an utter mess. Glad I saved money.

"We've been dancin' with Mr. Brownstone
He's been knockin', he won't leave me alone"

I wonder if CC Lopez had this song playing on his ipod while getting ready for this race?

tim,
I've liked EA for a long long time. He's done a lot for racing....so I'm a fan.
I didn't bet this time.
Might be good to see how he comes out of this one.
If retirement is in the cards, well...did his best many times.

Antitrust32 02-09-2007 03:33 PM

I dont think $4.50 to show is that bad!

ArlJim78 02-09-2007 03:43 PM

Is there any horse that runs more consistently? none come to mind.

I get a kick out of his short little stutter steps when the gate opens.

I love that look he gets on his face for a moment that seems to say; "Huh?" and then he lopes off after the field. What a joy this horse is.

Gander 02-09-2007 03:51 PM

Arromanches use to be even more consistent and I bring him up because the 2 horses both were gray and both ran almost exclusively on the NYRA circuit.

Both horses won bunches of races, and both tried hard every time they hit the track. I love both of these horses.

I always imagine that when the gates open his thoughts are "hey! whats the hurry?".

then in the stretch when its too late it becomes "hey, I got a shot at this".
:D

Evening Attire, age 9. Anyone cash the show ticket?

I caught the news late that Evening Attire was coming out of "retirement" to run at Aqueduct today. Retirement bored him, said his connections.

He ran 3rd in the Aqueduct 8th, paying $4.50 for the show ticket.

horseofcourse 02-10-2007 05:15 AM

Nice race back for the old guy. Still a bit hesitant coming out of the gate!! (bless his heart!) One of the cooler horses around.

Sightseek 02-10-2007 10:33 AM

I just watched the replay, Mayan King was pretty gutsy to come back and win like that.

Takes a champion to beat Monopoly Pricing like that <sarcasm intended>

Evening Attire is an old-fashioned dirt stayer and there just aren't enough races for for him. Won an off-the-turfer over 11f ,or was it 13f on dirt? So he gets up for pieces in races too short for him. Too bad the Gallant Fox was earlier in the winter - that would have suited him to a tee.

The rail was very strong at Aqueduct yesterday.
