The races are off the turf.

Apparently it rained three days ago....for the first time this meet.

What a monumental waste of time.

It hasn't rained since Sunday and they're still off the turf? Unbelievable.

damn it...

Yet another racetrack that has no interest in their customers. Of course, in this case that was apparent by the horrendous plant they built.

None of my money goes in their pools today.

Thoroughbred Fan 02-07-2007 10:39 AM

This is also why we can hardly find an American turf horse who likes the soft going. They have never been on it. What the hell are they saving the turf course for? It is a Florida track...grow some decent grass and have decent drainage. Magna sucks my _ _ _ _!

I haven't been happy with the track supervisor and his crew. Some changes need to be made if they can't get the course ready in 3 days.

blackthroatedwind 02-07-2007 10:41 AM

The course is 100% fine in all likelihood.

This is absurd.

WillSmith 02-07-2007 10:42 AM

Prophet John came up on my watch list. Too bad bravo is in the irons

Race 5 1 Mile:

I'd like to know the real reason why they're off the turf. It ruins the pick 4. They're a bunch of knuckleheads.

hoovesupsideyourhead 02-07-2007 10:45 AM

a travs -sham - ockery...get it together man...with ny pissing off most of the players they could have cashed in today....looks like sa will get the money instead..

Thoroughbred Fan 02-07-2007 10:45 AM

This is also part of the reason why the breeeding and sales industry has long since given up supporting turf pedigrees. It is about the most frustrating thing in the whole Thoroughbred industry to have a decent turf horse. All you end up doing is fighting to get in on the off chance it hasn't rained in about a month and running your horse about 5 times per year.

SA should have some nice pools today.

Glad I landed there today.. Was worriked about AQU with the cold and the GP card didn't appeal to me... You'll like the SA card... Fun, intriguing races late that I looked over. Think there are some prices to sniff out...

Hooves, we had the pleasure of meeting Fighting Senor in his stall a couple of weeks ago and he was certainly deserving of his name. (Mouthy mofo.) I hope he runs well. :)

Thoroughbred Fan 02-07-2007 10:49 AM

We should see if Steve can get the track super on the show to ask him to explain the problem. I bet he wouldn't come on the show.

TF,

No one will come on. Not even to promote their weekends. They're a very curious bunch.

Coach Pants 02-07-2007 10:54 AM

I'm wondering if Magna has any businessmen or do they simply have "deciders."

bellsbendboy 02-07-2007 10:56 AM

If you saw any of the Super Bowl Sunday night; GP being off the turf today is a no brainer one would think. BBB

Thoroughbred Fan 02-07-2007 10:57 AM

Well, if you destroyed the paddock area of a famous track, re-built a track that can't drain water in 3 days, and generally created a venue which only caters to a very small slice of the aging horseplayer population, would you want to come on a show and be asked about it. Magna killed GP!

They got an inch of rain in Hallandale (supposedly) and it has rained the past two days as well, although not very much.

It pretty much did... it's a glorified casino now.

Newer turf tracks drain quite well. I have even seen instances at Colonial where they have off the dirt.....that's right turf only days. That place is an amazing feat of engineering, and has only been around for about a decade.

Coach Pants 02-07-2007 11:03 AM

Cajun is right. They got about an inch of rain sunday night and sprinkles yesterday. If that turf course can't drain an inch of rain in 3 days then they got jobbed royally.

Thanks for costing me more money on this hanger, I didn't know he was running until you posted. I bet PF every time, since he ran 2nd to Bluegrass Cat (i think it was the Remson)...Hopefully he has improved and still riding Jerken's hot streak. All kidding aside, thank you for reminding me becuase I pulled this horse from my watch list after getting pissed too many time. What is one more time going to do to me

Gulfstream

In Regard To Gulfstream And Horse Bettors. My Feeling Is They Dont Seem To Give A Crap About The Horseplayer In Everything They Do. As Long As You Drop A Nickel In Those Slot Machines. Heres A Short ( I Hope ) Story To Illustrate. I Bet Night Simulcast Once A Week. So I Tried Going There To Bet. I Went To Their Clubhouse Restaurant A Nice Enough Place. However, No One There Knew That The Place Even Offered Horse Race Betting Or Where You Could Wager. The Maitre'd Even Told Me There Is No Wagering Here. Upon Further Searching I Found About 3 Self Serve Machines. 2 Were Blocked By Assorted Tables And Chairs And Couldnt Be Used. There Was One But No Means Of Buying Any Vouchers. Also There Were Many Nice Overhead Tvs But No Means Of Changing Any Of The Channels And Many Of The Tracks Could Not Even Be Shown. By The Way This Story Is Very Typical Of Many Other Experiences There. All With The Central Theme Of Who Gives A Crap If The Horse Bettor Is Happy

I don't get it either. I don't have enough aspirin in my desk to take care of the headache I just got from trying to read that post.

Thanks guys. Not as big as I thought it would be, but at least I have rolling P3s and I am up for the day. I am looking at SA, but that is a tough card.
