Metallica or ACDC

My wife and I got into the discussion on who is better , ACDC or Metallica. We both agreed that both are awesome but if you had to pick, who would it be? For me it would be ACDC. I was fortunate enough to see them in concert in the late 80's and it was simply awesome. I like Metallica and I have seen them several time, but for me it is ACDC. But RUSH is my fav group of all time.

Oh good God, neither.

Ok, Metallica, if I had to choose.

Neither. How can you not like ACDC? I like old Metallica better than their new stuff.

I feel the same way. I hated the song Open Arms. GOD that song makes me sick. Journey is the whinniest band ever.

CapperZeke 01-19-2007 10:23 AM

I prefer ACDC, but my all time favorite is The Who.

Puking in your mouth isn't going to cover up that nasty breath, Bill... try listerine instead. :p

I had.....

3rd row seats back in the 80's for ACDC, best seats of ever had for a concert, it was great! I would pick ACDC, not because of the show, but because of the overal body of music. I agree with the comment of old Metallica being superior to their more recent stuff! Rock on!

Two great bands imo, if I had to pick...Metallica by a nose after examining the photo! Guns and Roses ranks as my #1 but both of these are on the short list. I found a version of Nothing Else Matters done by Bif Naked that I added to my Myspace site...great song and she does a nice version but it lacks the power of the original!

I heard a re-make of Sweet Child O'Mine the other day on the radio. It was by a female and I don't know who it was. It sounded like Cherly Crow but I am not sure. Needless to say, I didn't like it one bit.

It's hard to do a re-make that stands up to the original...I think the ones I enjoy all have one thing in common, the artist takes the song and does it in his/her/their style not merely a copy of the original, a few I like:
G&R's version of "Knocking on Heaven's Door"
The Sundays version of "Wild Horses"
Manfred Mann's version of "The Mighty Quinn"
The Byrds version of "Tamborine Man"
Jimi Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower"

My fav are
Manfred Mann's version of Blinded By The Light
The Sundays version of "Wild Horses"
Goldfingers version of "99 Red Balloons"
Red Hot Chili Peppers version of "Love RollerCoaster"

Ah, we agree on the Sundays....I love that version! Who did the original of Blinded By the Light?

Bruce Springsteen did the original. He did it like a folk song. Just him and his guitar. The Sunday's version of Wild Horses is wonderful. It is so relaxing.

It really is! I have the vid of their's on Myspace as well as the song on my background player, I love her voice! Of course, it gives me strong imagery
when it plays cause it was the background music to one of my very favorite Buffy moments.

eurobounce 01-19-2007 12:15 PM

The Sundays were that band that was just eeking for stardom. All they needed was that one hit and they would have exploded. They came close a couple of times but nothing really caught on to the mainstream. However, since they weren't mainstream probably made them a better band.

Yeah, I love Harriett Wheeler's voice, the last I heard her and her guy (who I believe played guitar) were not doing anything musical...they had a couple kids I think.

Buffymommy 01-19-2007 12:39 PM

MEGADEATH!

hee hee. I don't listen to hard rock.

I havent heard much from her at all. I wouldnt be surprised if they just sort of fade away (well I guess they almost have).

They were pretty good, founded by Dave Mustaine after he was booted from Metallica, I found them a bit too much for my taste!

eurobounce 01-19-2007 01:09 PM

Megadeath was OK. I like a few of their songs. But when you get that speed metal, I prefer Motorhead, Iron Maiden Gamma Ray and Slayer

Thunder Gulch 01-19-2007 01:35 PM

I really like Metallica, but AC/DC is just awesome, especially live.

I can't believe somebody likes those two and Rush. I scramble for the dial when they come on the radio.

JJP 01-19-2007 02:01 PM

Between the two, I'd take Metallica. But I'd take Sabbath and Priest ahead of both of them.

Samarta 01-19-2007 09:09 PM

I'll take Metallica but AC/DC can open up....

Hickory Hill Hoff 01-19-2007 09:30 PM

AC/DC
past, present and future!
Metallica was good before they got on thier high horse and came out against NAPSTER...after that they SUCKED!
and thier music even SUCKED! more!!!

The Bid 01-19-2007 10:31 PM

AC/DC no doubt

GenuineRisk 01-19-2007 10:55 PM

I think Metallica are better musicians, as a whole, but I like AC/DC better- catchier songs (who doesn't love "Shook Me All Night Long?" And if you do, all I have to say is, "Why do you hate our freedom?")

I love the Sundays' "Here's Where the Story Ends."

Cajun- Journey (sort of) anecdote- I was in a bar that does kareoke on Saturday nights, and happily (and drunkenly) heckling the singers with "Get a job!" after they finished their songs. Guy gets up, and on the TV screen flashes, "Don't Stop Believing." I and all my friends groan. The guy starts singing and he's fracking GOOD. I mean, really good. So he finishes and all I can think to yell is, "Don't get a job!"

I, of course, do not sing karaoke unless I am in one of the private kareoke rooms you can rent for $5 per person per hour in Little Korea and then I sing nothing but Mary Chapin Carpenter songs because no one can stop me (also she sings in my key).

Yes, that cover of "Sweet Child O'Mine" is Sheryl Crow.

GPK 01-19-2007 11:26 PM

tell em Beavis....

"Metallica RULES....THEY RULE...KICK ASS...."

Beavis has spoken....
