Teuflesberg

I'm very fond of this horse, stunning good-looks and has done fairly well in his 11 starts of the year, including a win over the weekend....but the best part is, he was bought at F&T October for $9,000  What a great deal!

I like him a lot too, Sightseek. The way he moves over the ground is impressive...

My opinion is this horse will be a ATM machine probably not a Gr1 winner but a mopneymaker. The price is the key. Probably as sound as any with a few flaws. The "horsemen" will find the flaws and pick him apart while his conection are cashing the checks.

SniperSB23 12-26-2006 10:25 AM

Looks like they are going to try and stretch him out again. I wish they'd just keep him in sprints where he belongs before they ruin him. Maybe he'll be able to stretch out as he matures but rushing him to try and get to Kentucky in May is foolish in my opinion.

BINGO!
This is a nice horse that has no business on the Triple Crown trail.

Definitely agree. :)

blackthroatedwind 12-26-2006 10:43 AM

Not sure this horse has much ability though I suppose if handled properly, and thus kept sprinting, he COULD be a decent horse.

That will never happen, however, as the connections have made it clear from their actions that they are hell-bent on ruining this horse. Of that I am quite confident they will be successful.

This is why I respected Lost In The Fog's people.

He was running 100 Beyers right out of the box, and they never once stretched him out. They knew where he belonged.

eajinabi 12-26-2006 02:58 PM

This will be a monster sprinter. I hope the connections dont send him long and get derby hopes in thier eyes. Same goes with Pegasus Wind

What leads you to believe he'll be a "monster sprinter"?

I just don't see it.

eajinabi 12-26-2006 03:27 PM

He is a young horse and right now and is on the improve. His comeback race after the BC was good in the fact he learned to rate a bit before unleashing. Before he would jet and and barely hang on. I look forward to see him in the kings bishop if the connections eye it.

sumitas 12-26-2006 06:02 PM

His family does suggest he might go longer. His 11 starts as a 2 year old is a black mark against his connections.

Cannon Shell 12-29-2006 08:51 AM

I'm stunned that he is still running fairly well. Tough horse.

Thanks for posting this...

I love Teuflesberg, but I don't like him in this spot. I haven't really looked at the PP's extensively, but at first glance, I like Tony Terrific. What are your thoughts?

WOW! That is a really salty field right there. Hard Spun tops several people's Derby Trail lists -- Izzie's Halo has run big. Teuflesburg is a proven performer, and Makeithapencaptain could still be any kind after the race at Hawthorne.

I'd take the 1 in here after seeing the kind of show he put on this Fall at Hawthorne.

I haven't looked at this race at all, just recognized a few names. Didn't Tony Terrific break his maiden on the poly at Keeneland?

Yup, Makeithapencaptain is my pick at first glance without considering pace scenarios or anything like that.

Yea, I haven't looked at anything or thought about anything -- but know that I've been waiting for this one to head to stakes races ever since that romp. Illinois needs a Derby contender!

JJP 01-09-2007 12:21 PM

We should see a fast pace from Teuflesberg. I wonder what the over/under on his beaten lengths at the finish will be.

The Bid 01-09-2007 12:24 PM

Teuflesberg will rate, he will be in the middle of the pack until hes asked to produce a run. They have already stated they are trying to get him to relax and rate which he did in his last race

At 6 furlongs, we'll see around 2 turns

cmorioles 01-09-2007 12:54 PM

I can't believe a horse of this quality, which isn't that much, has his own thread.

Well we also have a thread about the 16Million Dollar auction buy who hasn't yet raced...so would you rather threads about him or the $9,000 horse who is seeing more success than expected and is actually being raced with a refreshing amount of frequency than Discreet Cat?

Racing isn't just about the 4-6 starts a year Blue-bloods.

SniperSB23 01-09-2007 01:03 PM

Good chance the top two (Makeithappen and Hard Spun) duel on the front end. Will be interesting to see if either opts to rate or they both gun it.

cmorioles 01-09-2007 01:04 PM

I didn't say it was a bad thing. I just said I couldn't believe it.

I couldn't care less about The Green Monkey. I hope he never makes it to the races, or that if he does, he is terrible.

Gander 01-09-2007 01:54 PM

Amazing the people so intrigued by this horse when my Rogue Agent thread gets like 2 people to reply.
Never will I understand most people's infatuation with the all mighty dollar. I just dont get it. Me? I'd rather look good naked.

Yeah and Spanish Chestnut was gonna rate too.....especially when Biancone decided to send him long.

smartyalex 01-09-2007 07:16 PM

I like Hard Spun in this Stakes. We'll see....

The Bid 01-10-2007 12:36 PM

After looking at the PP's I think Teuflesberg wins this one haters, sorry.

Gander 01-10-2007 12:40 PM

I like this horse Teufelsberg because he actually runs in races. What a concept.

Me too for the same reasons! :)

Balletto 01-10-2007 12:51 PM

Me and Cajun have loved this horse for a while. He's smartly bred and is a scrappy little thing. Reminds me of a more talented Dubleo.

Gander 01-10-2007 12:57 PM

I could care less how hes bred. He runs and today that is a rarity in this sport. If only we could get back to the Skip Aways and Cigars, this sport would be able to capture new fans.

I have a pretty decent photo of him (and your namesake, Balletto) in my slide show on kodak.com if you want to see them.
