I only put this out

because I think some of you on this board might like some inside info...

There's a horse that my partner tipped me to...should run in a week or two at Belmont. Comes from Jim J's barn, and Joey rides him in the mornings.
The horse's name is Tossed Feathers.
Watch for him but don't bet him down too far that you won't get good odds.

infield_line 06-14-2006 05:06 PM

DRF Watch says no such horse??

Downthestretch55 06-14-2006 05:17 PM

Patience...not out there yet.
Mark this one. When he shows up you'll remember I told ya.

If the horse is looking for a race then he should have registered workout and would be in DRF database. Is the name right?

Downthestretch55 06-15-2006 11:29 AM

I don't know if he has a published work...he's in training at Saratoga now, Jim J's barn. Watch and wait.

any new developments with this?

zippyneedsawin 06-19-2006 03:48 PM

DTS, are you sure the name is spelled Tossed Feathers ? I tried to add this horse to my virtual stable, there was no listing.

I'll have to call Joey, though he's a bit tough to get a hold of as he works very different hours, if you know what I mean.
Last I talked to him, he told me that this one would run well.
I'll get back to you after I track him down.

Toss the Feather might be the name.
Joe talks faster than I hear at times.

That may make sense.. Tossed Feathers= Toss da Feather= Toss the Feather!! LOL! I can't believe I'm following this logic! But, Toss the Feather is registered!!!

Australian breed horse? What's the scoop on him racing here? Bledder?

whorstman 06-26-2006 10:47 AM

Any updates on this?

I left myself a reminder on my calendar to bring this up. Any more info on this horse?

Scav 06-26-2006 11:00 AM

Just put him in your stable mail and it will email you when he is entered...I have him there and will let everyone know when entered

Hey, thanks for the info on that. I just added another weapon to my already deadly arsenal!!!

Scav 06-26-2006 02:32 PM

Stable mail is a double edged sword...it sometimes gets you involved on days that you weren't normally playing, but it can also get you some huge scores....I use DRF

Yeah, that's the one I used. i didn't know exactly what you were referring to, so I googled it and got an article about DRF's. so I added TF and a few other horses I have liked recently. I can see how it would get you involved on an otherwise off day though.

Downthestretch55 06-27-2006 12:09 PM

Toss the Feather worked this AM 6/27 at Belmont.

Scav,
It was just a breeze.
I was going to post it but I'm guessing you remembered this thread.
She should be in soon.

Good luck in Vegas!

I don't want to be an ignorant Californian, but is 5f at 1:03 really all that much to get excited about? On the tracks here, if I see a .59 5f, then I get interested... what makes this horse so wonderful? I just don't get it.

Signed,
The Apparently Clueless Californian

Got it... I'm a little slow sometimes.

Thanks.

I think my riding buddy and I are going to be at Belmont this Saturday; I look forward to race 5!

pgardn 07-04-2006 10:27 PM

Of course everyone would like the inside scoop.
But I think DTS would even tell you to be careful.

Its always nice to know who the best horse in a race is.
It just does not necessarily translate into a win.
Ive seen the shock too many times.

Those maiden special weights and the workouts... Oh boy.

I dont think DTS called this a mortal lock like Cunningham did with his maiden. Even though he had the favorite as a mortal lock in his first runnning.

BTW. The little Japanese hot dog eating guy "Kobeashi", set a new record of 53 and 3/4 hot dogs. An American almost beat him with 52. Careful.

hockey2315 07-04-2006 11:22 PM

pgardn- i totally agree. . . racing's too unpredictable for anything to ever be a lock. . . but that horse today @ Belmont in the 4 horse race may have been the closest to a lock ever. . . he went off at like 1/5, got left at the gate, and still destroyed the other three horse. . .

hockey2315 07-04-2006 11:23 PM

since the morning line hasn't been made yet- any thoughts on what his odds will be?

15/1 unless the jockey is a jet engine.

Pat and other Posters,
You said it best Pat. Caution folks!
I have hopes for Toss the Feather because one of my partners works at Toga and rode her each morning. Before she shipped downstate, he told me that this one would be good.
At this point, look at who she's against and cap the race accordingly.
I hope you make some dollars on her. Be careful!!!!

Fortunately or not, I'm still at the point in my handicapping practice where I stick to small bets I can afford to lose. No worries for me on the 8th.

And I'm delighted that little guy won for what, the sixth time in a row? Hee hee. It's one of those crazy contests I have no interest in seeing live, but I enjoy seeing the footage highlights afterwards.

He will be lower then 15/1....Just having Jerkens as the trainer is enough to warrant a 10/1 ML and lower then that at post....

I looked at the race and he looks to be in tough...They are maidens, anything can happen, I will be playing him though, pick four, pick threes, win/place, exactas/tri

Good Luck. I have not looked at the race yet. Just got back from The MGM in Las Vegas, had a great time.

I am over at Ballys...It was the only place that would house 8 people at a time(parlor suite)....I have heard that their sportsbook is above average so will check it out until they piss me off then i will head over to the Bellagio

the Beds suck at MGM, I wanted to go to sleep off a 46 hour gambling session and I had springs basically popping up in my grill the whole time...drove me nuts..

Scavs you are completely mad. I liked Ballys sportsbook. I walked around and checked a number of them out. Its kinda tiered and ends up at the bottom with the tellers. You can watch the big screens, or have your own little TV and just switch around. I could get away from the smoke also. It was a little darker than the others and it made it a bit more comfortable. That is were I settled in my only trip after trying a number of others. Oh yes. They have nicely visible odds boards for just about everything running almost up to the ceiling. I liked that. Information central.
