Pix from Argentina

4 Attachment(s)
I'm limiting this to ten or so... out of the 900 we took. And to just pix from Patagonia, which was so beautiful it hurt to leave.

Several have horses in them. The little tacked-up guy was my mount on a day ride out to a glacier. A crillo (creoso?), named Barrilito.

My favorite anecdote from the ride- when we were assigned horses, one of the women, who was 50 and had never been on a horse before, worriedly inquired about her mount, "Il est gentil?" (French for "Is he nice?") Our guide cheerfully reassured her, "He is almost dead."

Anyway, here are pix, for anyone who wants to look at them.

We went for our honeymoon, Timm... 18 months after we got married (I am a world-class procrastinator). Two weeks- we saw a bit of Patagonia, Buenos Aires and hopped the hydrofoil to Uruguay for a day in Colonia. In over eight years together, it was our first trip together that didn't involve seeing family.

Kev, I think Todd's going to want to come along next time, too, but I imagine I can find a cute female friend (or two) to tag along so you won't feel like a third wheel. :) Or just trust you'd meet a dozen (at least) on your own in Buenos Aires... heh heh heh.

Glad you like the pictures!

Oh, I forgot to mention-- "The Simpsons" is HUGE over there. Huge. Tshirts, posters, buttons, magnets. I bought my brother a tshirt of a shirtless Homer showing off a tattoo of Che Guevera. Pretty funny.

You aren't kidding about the steaks... I'm not much of a meat eater but when I travel all rules are off and the steaks were out of this world. I'm done with corn-fed beef; it's an abomination after what I had in Argentina. I also had sweetbreads for the first time in my life, and must admit, they were quite tasty.

And never thought I'd find myself a coffee drinker, but I had it black, no sugar while I was there. Oh, so good....

Colonia was great-- it was there that one of the waiters shared his yerba mate with me. I liked it.

That's still pretty well-traveled, Kev! I know people who have never left the Eastern Seaboard.

I've been to 41 of the 50. Fortunately, a friend just moved to Colorado, so that gives me an excuse to go visit and knock it off the list. Alaska and Hawaii will take some work, I think...

It was a lot of fun. Highly recommended, though maybe not going along with a sap like me, who burst into tears as soon as we came within sight of the Moreno glacier. I got much teasing from my husband on that one... :)

I'm not much of a sap but nature is more likely to move me to tears than just about anything else;)

Either that or, "Can Never Find Keys."

Hey, I met my hubby on a blind date. My mom met my dad on a blind date. My best friend met her hubby on a blind date (that I set up for her). There is nothing wrong with blind dates. :)

She has never been married. Thought she had found the right guy a couple of years ago, but turned out to be Mr. WRONG instead.
