Lightning Thunder and Snow?

Never have seen it before but overnight all three were happening together. We got slammed north of the city 8-11" but I have my Delta Downs form in hand and about 8hrs in front of me.....Nice Program!! Hawthorne will likely cancel, like anyone cares lol. And it's still comng down hard.

saucon17 12-01-2006 09:09 AM

I care my father is stuck in O'Hare, he has no clue when he
get a flight back to Philly, The Delta card should be a great day of
racing. I give a Xchanger a shot in the Jackpot.

we had a storm like that here last winter...it was definitely strange to have thunder with a snow storm.

I grew up in VT driving in snow is like second nature...unfortunately I also live in a college town where the kiddies show up from out of state with the new SUV 4WD that daddy bought them for high school graduation...they are the cause of MANY accidents :(

well it appears that one of the big issues we have here is that some of our illegals aliens that live in the area, and there are many, do not have any winter driving skills obviously. So they are spinning all over the place.

I was stuck behind a taxi for 20 minutes because the driver thought the best way to handle snow was to push the accelerator all the way to the floor.
Obviously he didn't get very far very fast like that, just sliding left and right.

saw some of the same when i lived in KY...they don't get much snow but when they do the Mexican guys are truly scary on the road.

Just throwing it out there that just because one grows up in an area where there was lots of snow doesn't mean one actually knows how to drive in the snow. I've seen some of the worst snow drivers in history, for instance, in Buffalo, New York.

you're right of course...experience does not equal skill.;)

saucon17 12-01-2006 09:51 AM

Just outside my neighborhood there's a steep hill, These a**holes with
rear wheel drive insist on driving up the hill when there is snow they constantly get stuck and cause a parking lot. You wish you can take them out the car an knock some sense into them.

I also laugh at these people who here the word snow, they go an raid the supermarket for food. Thinking that they going to be stuck in their home for weeks. They buy huge amounts of bread, eggs and milk. They must love making and eating french toast

true, there are horrible drivers that are from the area.
Thing is they have no excuse and to me are worse than the people that have transplanted from more sunny climes.

this thread should be in off topic, not on the main forum

Everything you post should be in off topic, what's your point?

Thanks Mike but I got a older guy I split tickets with that doesn't drink and owns a car dealership so I'll be picked up and delivered to the OTB in some 4x4. Best part is I decide the tickets we play. This card looks too good to pass. All I owe is a couple of grill cheeses.

I'm in Albany and we had such a storm last year. We also had a T-storm, no snow just before Christmas.

while we're going to get some snow, thankfully the system has shifted further North than they had planned. when you look at Doppler, the "snow" portion of the system is basically going to blanket michigan.....except for the very small corner that I actually live in near Detroit :D

I'll have never been so happy over 4 inches of snow.

wow good luck did you get some internship?, good thing Harold Reynolds is out of there..lol

slotdirt 12-01-2006 03:15 PM

Hartford, CT averages something like 49 inches of snow per year. If you're not used to snow, they get a lot of snow.

This F'n weather is unreal. I JUST got done friggin shoveling. There are a couple older people stilll around this area and I had to shovel 4 friggin driveways. I am ALREADY sore and I fear what tomorrow will bring. About 10 inches by me, tried to shovel it and that didn't work so had to fire up the snowblower. It worked good but had to go as slow as possible because the friggin snow is so wet it was compacting in the shoot and causing all sorts of problems.

No wonder that Vegas gets 100 new residents per day and AZ has grown like weeds. The only good thing about this snow is the look on my dogs face when they got to play in it, absolutely outstanding. I guess it is worth shoveling for that look....

I hate the damn snow and i live in Michigan. Why is it I always get stuck between the two drivers i hate everytime I go out in this stuff? U know I get behind the guy who wants to go 15 mph and I'm ahead of the guy who wants to go 55 mph. And to top it off the kids never come by to shovel when you get dumped on but let it just come a dusting, they'll come a running everytime.

The Golden Retriever absolutely LOVES it. She just goes nuts into it especially when we start wrestling in it for a little while

The cokapoo is so hilarious in it, especially when it is deep like it is now, she has already gotten like three baths today because she gets matted up with snow and it ends up being somewhat painful, have to shovel a path for her, pretty hilarious.

As far as helping the old folks, they are good people and are good to my family. They have given myself and my three sisters graduation gifts that were larger then some of our BLOOD family members. They also let us park on their driveways due to the fact that we have 6 cars in our family, if we all had to park on our driveway, the mornings would be nuts.

Plus it is fun because some serious snowball fights start between neighbors, their is like two other dudes about 10 years older them me that are always out their shoveling also and we sit and have a couple beers and bs and then hit about 10 houses total in like three hours. Today took longer because I was the only one out their, other two were at work, I just called in and said F it

my favorite moment every winter is turning the horses out in the first deep snow...think 1000 pound dogs...they love it...pic is a 2YO that I had for a lay up afew years back.
