The Next Act

Here is Seymour Hersh's recent article, "The Next Act".
If you take the time to read it, you might find some interesting information.
Also, click on the comments. Both sides there.

DTS: It was a informative article, and I appreciate the post. After reading the article,I read almost all of the comments(most of which could have come from DU) I'm actually looking at you as a quasi-moderate,judging by the amount of shrieking diatribes you must wade through to post on DT. Appreciate the effort;)

interesting and terrifying all at once.

it seems impossble to me, intuitively, that an administration so bogged down by poor military planning could even conceiveably muster up a straight face long enough to begin another conflict.

the part that rang the most true was the portion in which Hersh discusses how a very limited strike may actually do Iran more favors than it would do us and could further alienate us from anyone who still likes us (or at least pretends to!) in that area.

Well, thanks Timm. I really have no agenda as I'd like folks to make up their own minds. Sure, I'd love it if "peace" broke out half as much as "war", but only informed people can make those distinctions.

Lately, I've been reading a lot about the questions that surround the collapse of WTC Building 7. Talk about interesting!
That building had no smoke, wasn't hit by a plane, and was separated from WTC 1+2 by WTC 6.
I haven't made up my mind yet as the more I read about WTC 7, the more questions. Google it.

Downthestretch55 11-25-2006 02:14 PM

Timm,
Here's a link to WTC 7. No I'm not a "consiracy theorist"...yet.

DTS: It surely seems that the fuel in the building could have caused it to act much the same as the damage to Twin Towers. And the debris that travelled 335ft....we can't imagine the force of the blast(saw a tornado movie last nite) so anythings' possble. But how can anyone link the planes and the aftermath(like dominoes). That's a real stretch, and the ramifications of anything other than what's visible is too much to think about for very long!

Timm,
As I said above, I still have lots of questions. I won't even get into the ones that had "put" orders (short) on United Airlines and United. Some people made serious money.
Here's a list of the tenants of WTC 7. Note the owner. He had purchased the long term lease only a few weeks before. Silverstein Properties still ahs many questions surrounding their transactions, past and present.
Here are the WTC 7 tenants. Scroll down.
See the notable ones, SEC, US Secret Service, IRS, Mayor's Office of Emegency Management...and others.

I could totally "buy-in" to a 2 pronged attack on New Yorks' financial and govt. facilities, if that is what you're suggesting. That would mean that we're dealing with a more complete and sinister force that previously believed.

Timm,
Again, I'm not saying I've made up my mind on this. All I can say is that many questions remain, even after Kean's 911 Commission report (the "official one). We might have seen the crime of the century.
Plenty of others are asking questions. The "investigation" was hardly thorough. Oh, and if you get a chance, take a look at who served on the "commission".

Downthestretch55 11-25-2006 03:25 PM

Timm,
Here's the summary version. Note, the vice-chair, Hamilton, is the same guy that is now working with Baker to devise an exit strategy for the mess in Iraq.
If you go to page 34 and read the last paragraph, you might find more than you might want to know about what this is really about.

DTS: I really think you're overthinking this link. IT'S NOT LIKE THEY HAVE A BOATLOAD FULL OF EXPERTS TO DRAW FROM ON THIS ONE. Sorry about caps. I thought that the last paragraph was straightforward, considering it was to be the final statement of the commission. How does that tie into what happened 4yrs prior? If you think it was a "homeland job", I just cannot believe it. You'd have to sew it up pretty tight to sell me on that one.

Timm,
I haven't "sewn" anything up. That's why I keep asking questions.
I'm not the only one. Here are some valid questions put forth by the families of the victims of the 9-11 tragedy. They remain unanswered.

timm,
This is a very recent court order regarding the evacuation of the bin Laden family members, and members of the Saudi royal family.
Guess who Cheney visited today? UMMMM...
You can read it.
The dots will be connected sooner or later. Many people are on to this now.
http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/WO0611/S00361.htm

timmgirvan 11-25-2006 05:25 PM

DTS: so what do you think? I believe that Cheney is in S.A. to talk about the possible influence of Saudis to Iraq situation. Pull out your "magic pencil" and connect the dots for me. They could've moved the bin Laden and Saudis' so that they wouldn't be slaughtered in the streets by civilians after 9/11

Downthestretch55 11-25-2006 05:28 PM

Timm,
I must confess that I'm digging to find a more accurate picture than the one that has been presented.
Here's an interesting "time line".
http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/t...e_911_timeline

You might want to scroll down to 1988 and see where the money came from to bail George W Bush out of his failed business ventures.

Since this is a horse racing board, maybe some will remember a horse named War Emblem. Baffert bought a 90% share for a Saudi prince named Salman.
A year later, the prince died of a "heart attack" at the age of 44.
I've been searching for the autopsy report, but I'm unable to find it at this time.

And, yes, I'm "dumping" links here on this board. It saves me time searching back through "favorites" so that my "research" can continue. It makes it easier for me to find.
Enjoy the threads. Halliburton and Brown, Kellogg & Root will be coming soon.

Anyone know the "story" about War Emblem...besides the "chips"?
Feel free to add whatever you know. Links appreciated.

timmgirvan 11-25-2006 05:46 PM

Timm,
Like you, I have no "inside information" about the discussion between Cheney and King Abdullah that transpired today.
I can speculate that the main reason was either to prepare them for US withdrawl and admission of failure, attempting to gain support to talk to Sadr so as to "put out the fire", or perhaps forge some kind of cobbled alliance between Syria, Jordan and maybe Egypt. I won't know until the "official" report is reported in the press. Even then, I'll have my doubts.
Do you know which international company supplies oil pumping technology and pipeline supplies? Clue...read about the company that Cheney was the former CEO and still holds considerable stock. Nothing would amaze me.

As far as moving the bin Laden family and the Sauds out of the country, seems to me they could have stayed either in their hotel rooms for a few days or gone to Crawford for a month or two. Most folks didn't even know they were here in the states until after they were rushed out.
Why do you think they were?

timmgirvan 11-25-2006 06:07 PM

I pretty much gave a reason..only conjecture on my part. However...about Halliburton..they were(and still are) the company with the most sophistictated and high tech equipment available in the world and probably the best at R&D. So I think the connection to Cheney, and any ulterior motives is far fetched at best. Of course, we could always take out that rat bast**d Al Saydr and things would clear up considerably!!

Downthestretch55 11-25-2006 06:12 PM

Timm,
As you might know, "Deep Throat" (later revealed) advised Woodward and Bernstein to "follow the money" during the Watergate days.
I've been looking. Especially interesting is the as yet unidentified, and unclaimed money that was made on the "put" orders on American and United Airlines. This transaction could easily be found if the SEC would only reveal the trader. Is protection to the identity being provided by higher powers?
Your guess is as good as mine.
http://justanotherblowback.blogspot....-you-need.html
And, yes, it will be quite a book.

timmgirvan 11-25-2006 06:29 PM

So..as I understand you..it must be someone in Congress or the Administration that had the 'put' orders given?? DTS,with all due respect, Tom Clancy is looking for help! That's preposterous...and me being so trusting, I can't see it being pulled off! But,hey,I think SC is gonna beat ND,too!

Timm,
Halliburton is correct. Remember the "no-bid" contracts? Cost over runs?
Far fetched???? I don't think so.
Of course you won't find it in Halliburton's prospectus or current financial reports. At least not in the Wall Street Journal or Halliburton's website.
It continues to amaze me that some are so eager to believe that the threat comes from "outside" of the USA. The reality might just be too horrible, too abhorent, for believing citizens to possibly confront, let alone accept.

I noticed something in my garden a few weeks ago. A pumpkin rots from the inside. Yes, you heard me. INSIDE!

timmgirvan 11-25-2006 06:41 PM

Timm,
How do you expect me to know who is protecting the one that made the "put" order?
Not much seems preposterous to me. A huge building falling down that wasn't targeted or hit, one that showed no smoke, and has a video of "blast sequence" evidencing "controlled demolition".
Unlike you, I trust no one, least of all those that have squandered so many lives during their "adventure" to create "democracy", or find wmd's, or line their pockets with oil revenues and no-bid contracts.
Keep trusting, my friend.
Many did as they climbed aboard trains in Warsaw when they were told they were being "relocated". They certainly were, but not as they expected.
Hey, maybe SC beating ND is, in fact, very important.
Keep believing. Eat everything that is fed to you.
Don't ask questions. You don't deserve answers after all.
And don't ever question the answers that are given.
Load up the boxcars. We have more sheep that need to be brought to a destiny they never considered.

Timm,
That's really a stretch...the first and only time a "no bid contact" was granted. Seems to go against the approved bidding process.
Other companies have expertise. They were denied the opportunity to bid, but heck, that's "capialism" afterall.
Right?

Danzig,
You might find an interesting read in a book titled "Triple Cross".
It has to do with the first WT bombing and how the FBI blew it. Big!
Check it out. It's well researched and accurate.

Danzig,
In case you didn't take time to read the "time line" link I posted for timm, 1988, here it is....

1988: Bin Ladens Bail Out George W. Bush?
Bush during his Harken days. [Source: Lions Gate Films] Prior to this year, President George W. Bush is a failed oilman. Three times, friends and investors have bailed him out to keep his business from going bankrupt. However, in 1988, the same year his father becomes president, some Saudis buy a portion of his small company, Harken, which has never performed work outside of Texas. Later in the year, Harken wins a contract in the Persian Gulf and starts doing well financially. These transactions seem so suspicious that the Wall Street Journal in 1991 states it “raises the question of ... an effort to cozy up to a presidential son.” Two major investors in Bush’s company during this time are Salem bin Laden and Khalid bin Mahfouz. [Salon, 11/19/2001; Intelligence Newsletter, 3/2/2000] Salem bin Laden is Osama’s oldest brother; Khalid bin Mahfouz is a Saudi banker with a 20 percent stake in BCCI. The bank will be shut down a few years later and bin Mahfouz will have to pay a $225 million fine (while admitting no wrongdoing) (see October 2001)). [Forbes, 3/18/2002]

Pillow,
I appreciate the satire.
Seems to me that those that wrap themselves in the beautiful red, white, and blue flag take every opportunity to deny what it really represents.
"You're either with us or against us". This kind of "thinking" has lead to untold misfortune.
"If a blind man follows another blind man, they both end in the ditch."
Thankfully, there are some that are bold enough to question outrageous incompetance. Their right to do so is protected by the same First Amendment that also protects those that make claims of "Mission Accomplished."
If one choses to believe the lies, that's also a choice that a free citizen of this great country is allowed. Followers seem to buy anything that's being sold, including wars of choice that result in squandered lives and treasure.
Those that question and don't follow bring a voice of sanity against the insane actions of the "leaders", when in fact, they lead by showing light, truth, to the darkness and deception.

Danzig,
It seems to me that if you live anywhere in this great nation, you should be allowed to have the excercise of "free speech", decorations, massage boards, or letters to the editor.
The "association" will be challenged for their pathetic attempt to limit the freedoms of those that they wish to silence.
Only those that are bold enough to stand up and push back against "bullies" perpetuate the freedoms we all enjoy and cherish.
There is no fear in doing so.
There is no "hate" (see how many times that word has been used in this little thread).
There is no denying constitutionally provided rights, including "freedom of religion" and "freedom of speech".
Bullies will try their darndest to take yours away, but not theirs.
Only when they are confronted with the absurdity of their words and actions do they back away....slinking with their tails between their legs as they find safety in the far corner of the playground, or the upper rooms of the White House.

Peace.
